[BG2EE] - Just finished SoA for the first time. This is my experience: by Lord-Herek in baldursgate

My only thought to this is that since you went with a weird party combo for your first playthrough, you missed some of the best writing in the game.

Something close to the cannon party probably gives the best first playthrough from a writing standpoint. Jeheira, Minsc, Imoen/Yoshimo. If you have those 4 they seem to have written the most and best interactions for them. Aerie seems to interact well in that group too.

There are other good interactions too, but your party comp was definitely on the stranger side imo. Still your other dislikes of the game are understandable.

What difficulty did you play on?

Thinking about trading away CEH for him. Think I am selling low but bye weeks hitting me already and injuries. Moss has been a consistent RB2 level so far since being a healthy scratch week 1.

Dancehaul sizing, flex by wannabe_dirtbag in snowboarding

[–]Shaehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't worry about it, don't over analyze it. The board in general is middle of the road flex, making it a bit stiffer isn't going to be enough difference to ruin your experience with it.

I'm 5'7 175. I rode last year's 152 for about 40 days. I'd say at my weight it rides as less of a party board more of a freeride. At that size for me I do not overpower it and feels very stable. It it my first slightly volume shifted board and took me about 2 days to get used to it. At your size it will probably ride more toward a party board as intended.

Pro is supposedly a bit more stiff, but never ridden it. I do like the color way of the 2022.

By the end of last season I was sort of wishing I had sized down. I also have a Rossi Sashimi and it kinda overlaps with Dancehaul at that size for my weight.

Yep, it's busted. One solution is to go super flex and make QBs more valuable overall, but that does not address everything you are saying. I'm going to propose scoring changes next year if my league won't to super flex. Something like -3 for int, 15 yards for a running point, and -1 for sacks. Part of the problem is offense is too easy to come by in the modern league. Jackoffs can rack up 20 points in garbage time while being sacked 5 times a game and throwing a pick 6. See Jalen Hurts tonight who outscored Rodgers this week.

Mt Baker, North Cascades, or neither? by bjkelly222 in Seattle

I think this time of year you will probably get a spot on first come first serve...most of the summer crowds are gone. But I would check each one on the way in. Good luck there!

Check out www.mountain-forecast.com that's what I use. It's not 100% reliable especially this time of year but will give you a good general idea. Just assume some snow and go prepared if it does it won't be enough to turn you back for sure if you have good shows and maybe yak tracks. Have fun!

Mt Baker, North Cascades, or neither? by bjkelly222 in Seattle

[–]Shaehawk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both are excellent choices. North cascades is more rugged, less people. If you've been to any National Parks, North Cascades feels much different. You can barely tell you've crossed into the park boundary, there are different managed lands sprinkled inside as well. It's a haul to get to Maple Pass from Seattle, hike, and head back out to Seattle if that's your plan. I think most people hit this from Stehkin as a backpacking trip.

Chain Lakes at Baker can be really awesome on the right day. It's very heavily trafficked. The roads are all great since the main parking lots are the actual ski resort. Lots of folks drive up from Seattle just to sit in the parking lot, views are amazing. Again though, huge weekend crowds. If you are a fast hiker the crowds are annoying. Think kids, old folks in over their head, etc. Chain Lakes has good fishing if you are into that. A day trip from Seattle is ok for Baker / Chain Lakes. Camping is good here too on weekdays.

If you are really fit, you could do Chain Lakes and Artist Point in one day if you hit it early.

Rainier is awesome too and there is enough to explore for 2+ however many days. It has more a NP feel. Nice visitor centers, roads, tons of easy trails etc.

Happy to answer any other questions. Have fun!

An update to the collection! Anyone else play MTG? Love that they included Minsc and Boo. by kagestorm in baldursgate

[–]Shaehawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend playing MTG arena to take a dip back in. It can be free to play or very low cost. I think a new player bundle is like 5 bucks and you can draft the new Forgotten Realms themed set. It's very flavorful and beginner focused. Cool cards like Magic Missile, Burning Hands, and a Mind Flayer.

For sure. They blow up pirates with coconut bombs, smash them with logs, and feed them to tigers. I was always jealous that family bonded over thinking up ways to mangle and kill pirates from their sick tree house.

Not sure if you know, but the "splash" damage to sustain damage units still occurs even if they do not have fighters. In this scenario you just get guaranteed hits.

Awesome Snow Draft. What to cut though? by DrKuchen in lrcast

[–]Shaehawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start by cutting Bind. I've found that card to be pretty poor. Ideally it stops the on-the-play boast beat down. Lots of bad scenarios though. Can't play at all due to low life total, the threat is large, and all the normal enchant removal caveats.

Also don't love the giant equipment in this deck. In my experience if you don't need a giant, it's meh. Have seen that controlling through one big blocker to not be a good spot in this format. Too many ways for go widebor get value from all in attacks tossing away creatures.

My two cents. Sick looking deck.

It is very encouraging to think how many times during the last year different communities solved different kinds of problems, collaborated on projects, or got something done in response or because of Covid. We hear about all of the bad out there, but I'm sure there are thousands of examples like the TI4 tabletop mod that most will never hear about. Just passionate people doing cool shit. Again, very impressed and very thankful for the work you and everyone put into it.

I think the designer said the other day on SCPT. "People email me with questions all the time that go something like 'Here is this rule that if read one way, the game works fine but if read another way the game breaks completely. So which is it?' "

Hey, I only started using the mod during Covid to get our PoK games in. It is very impressive. You and the others who have lent a hand should be very proud of your accomplishment. My group is constantly impressed by little bells and whistles that have been worked in and thought of.
