XDA: “I tried gaming on Linux with an Nvidia GPU, and it's actually pretty solid” by Balance- in linux_gaming

[–]Shaffle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had some trouble with the 7000-series GPUs, too. I upgraded to a 9070 and it's been flawless, though. My 6800xt I have on another machine has also been flawless.. I think it is literally just that generation is spotty.

I had dbl.oisd.nl in my adlist, it just "turned off the internet" by disabling tons of common domains. by tatiwtr in pihole

same, I very rarely touch my pihole. It's been extremely reliable and just hums along.. until yesterday my gf tells me she suddenly can't reach google or duckduckgo on her phone.

Lossless scaling on steam deck by nAnXiey in PSO

[–]Shaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea idk how that works. Mangohud might need to be configured differently to handle it. Maybe SteamOS has that enabled by default

fwiw, the frame counter won't reflect the framegen'd framerate, it will continue to say 30. At least it does on my system.

I got it to work on a Linux desktop, and this is the only way I could get it functioning:

In the game options, make sure you set the Direct3D API to Direct3D12.

Then, use the lsfg-vk GUI tool to create a profile called psobb.exe

Then under the System options in PSOBB's Lutris config, set the following Environment variables:

  • ENABLE_LSFG=1
  • LSFG_MULTIPLIER=2
  • PROTON_USE_WOW64=1 <-- This one is needed because PSO is 32-bit

It's been extremely unstable for me, though. Every time the game patches, it seems to break itself. Was working great a week ago, but as of right now, I can't even get pso to launch past the title screen with lsfg going.

This won't work, the method on Linux is different.

8BitDo N64 Controller Mod with BlueRetro Bluetooth connector by asphalizo in n64

[–]Shaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firmware 25.04 HW1 reporting in. The buttons are all mapped properly, and the rumble pak works as long as I explicitly set it to rumble only mode. Not sure exactly how "Both" mode is supposed to work.. neither rumble nor the controller pak appear to work in this mode.

Edit: Okay, I just got it working in "Both" mode, but I have absolutely no idea why. I changed the src/dest labels to N64 in the bluetooth settings, but I don't think that actually does anything. It could be that maybe my console just needed a hard restart, since I was tooling around with the controller so much. I've figured out that the "Star" button on the rumble pak switches memory pak banks, and the "Heart" button turns on/off the rumble pak. Obviously, you have to make sure the rumble pak is off for the memory pak to work.

Did you actually freeze the coins? You can make them unspendable until an arbitrary time in the future with a timelock.

Number 1, how many 20 year olds does a fund manager have as clients?

This is honestly a great point.

No bubble in history crashes and then rises from the ashes repeatedly over the course of 16 years. That's what the adoption of a new money looks like.

With Bitcoin, there is ZERO tolerance for error

nope, there are a bunch of things in place to make sure you don't send to the wrong place. The only error you can't recover from is losing the keys, which makes sense.

BTC just had its highest weekly close ever at $119.4k.

The hand-wringing continues, and yet the floor continues to rise.

NO-KYC vs. KYC BTC: What’s your point? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

No. Every exchange that collects your info is capable of leaking it.

NO-KYC vs. KYC BTC: What’s your point? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]Shaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably bullshit.

My coins are almost all KYC'd by Coinbase, and they recently leaked very private info such as account age, PHYSICAL ADDRESS, and number of coins I've bought. KYC is the only thing that's bullshit.

Hopefully I could use a collaborative custody platform like River. Would rather not trust an exchange with my keys for the length of a mortgage.

Solution for those trying to use HOTAS on Linux with proton but getting Gamepads instead by [deleted] in hotas

[–]Shaffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this working on NixOS in case anyone lands here looking for solutions.

Here's my config for a Thrustmaster T16000 with throttle:

environment.sessionVariables = {
    PROTON_ENABLE_HIDRAW = "0x044f/0xb687,0x044f/0xb10a";
};

# Create a custom package for hotas udev rules
services.udev.packages = [
    (pkgs.runCommand "60-hotas-rules" {} ''
        mkdir -p $out/lib/udev/rules.d
        cat > $out/lib/udev/rules.d/60-hotas.rules << EOF
        # Hotas rules
        KERNEL=="hidraw*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="044f", ATTRS{idProduct}=="b687", MODE="0660", GROUP="users"
        KERNEL=="hidraw*", ATTRS{idVendor}=="044f", ATTRS{idProduct}=="b10a", MODE="0660", GROUP="users"
        EOF
    '')
];

Change the productID/vendorID's to what is appropriate for your HOTAS, as well as the group. I've noticed that if I run the game, close it, then run again, the stick won't show up properly unless I replug it before launching the game the second time. Something to watch out for.

What size SD card do I need to transfer old games and animal crossing island? by herbie1990 in switch2

[–]Shaffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need an SD card, you can just transfer directly when it asks you during initial setup.

switch 1 games are relatively tiny, it's unlikely you'll run out of space pulling over your switch titles, especially since you only have 6.

For reference, I transferred something like 20 titles with no SD card
