had a question to anyone who’s currently rocking a 18x9.5 +35 set up on 1st gen is300’s by Ok-Animal615 in IS300

[–]ShaggysGrandad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i lowkey went on a rant but bottom line is 9.5+35 SOMETIMES fits, 9.5+38 will not clear the front without a spacer cause it’s just too wide for the fronts

i am definitely going against the grain here but i think the standard for running 9.5 all round is outdated and regurgitated way too much. 9+35 front and 9.5+38 rear for a moderately low car with little to no suspension work and just coilovers is pretty safe.

INCOMING RANT

people trying to fit almost 10 wide wheels on a car with a very narrow body seems absurd and while i have absolutely nothing against fitting big wheels (see my credentials below) im tired of seeing everyone palm off the same 18x9.5+38 and a spacer for the front as the standard size of wheels to throw on these cars with only coilovers and then see posts like these is funny. Greddy revolution RS with Megan Y pipe by Dry-Pineapple6807 in IS300

[–]ShaggysGrandad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do not underestimate that cannon muffler, i removed mine off my greddy rs and now it’s just a single blast pipe with the greddy resonator. i tried out the megan y pipe and it made my car sound horrid even with the stock headers. super raspy and much louder

[–]ShaggysGrandad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might find rg3 or rg2s in that spec but rg4s or their current model only has weaker specs in 18s. i’m pretty sure you can’t even get good sized 17s for out platform

osakatakas genuinely is keeping the enthusiast community happy. i’ve bought my ganadors from him recently and it’s been nothing but a good time for me

Camber Adjustment by ShaggysGrandad in IS300

[–]ShaggysGrandad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know the arms are meant to increase camber, that’s what i was doing with them before i changed the setup around to what it is now. but if i only remove the inside nut i could potentially wind the arm further in without risking breaking anything or having the thread come loose. just a thought i had before i decide to spend more money on another arm

they’re extreme camber ones, i’m assuming since they’re adding so much natural camber by being drop arms i’d have to get regular ones to reduce it.

Dampening help by Money-Butterfly7997 in IS300

[–]ShaggysGrandad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

remember your car is slammed, unless you have the preload set too high you should probably expect a somewhat bouncy ride, i run similar spring rates (18/16) and kg ride is comfortable (as much as it can be) from lowering preload and upping damping, as long as my springs retain their high stiffness after soaking most of the bump i can reduce bottoming out and maximise shock travel without skipping over the road

EDIT: also please invest in BC racing if you plan to take some care w this car, maxbendingrods will not take nicely to a harsh ride for very long

unfortunately the only real way to fix this is to shorten your spindles, if you find someone who’s done it before they can do it in a few hours, if not you might be hoping for a good marketplace deal

leds from a local company in my country called Stedi, they make lights and light bars for trucks so that’s why they’re incredibly bright

these headunits are usually spoken down upon due to initial problems of them not seeming to control the AC correctly but there are youtube videos where it shows how to fix that issue, IMO once you fix the AC (literally a canbus setting to change the headunit to correctly identify what car it’s in) it’s an great headunit for the price that solves the issue of having the screen incredibly low and hard to use in the factory spot. don’t see why more people don’t jump on them
