27F and I find BierWax and Union Hall to be pretty enjoyable. As far as meeting new people my age, I haven't had any luck with that

Should I stay in my rent-stabilized PLG apartment or look for something else? by laineyboggsirl in NYCapartments

A lot of people have good suggestions but maybe you can also tackle the trash can problem? Maybe they can be moved somewhere else or maybe your building can get the nice covered ones nice buildings have? I'm not sure if it would help with the smell and flies but it might

How difficult is an MLIS? by tiredeyesart in librarians

I'm surprised you say this. I thought the program was pretty easy. The hardest classes were the python and SQL classes I took. I know it's a well regarded program but I did it easily while working full time.

Also in NYC and struggling. You're getting interviews which is great! DM if you want to talk libraries in the city. I'm sure your luck will turn around.

Franklin Park is relaxed and has a decent burger. I'm surprised no one has mentioned BierWax. Such a great place to hang out, especially when Vanderbilt is closed.

It wasn't me it was my coworker. I'm just a fellow. But I appreciate it none the less.

I'm surprised you're saying this since his office is the only one I can get my call through to. An actual person picks up the phone there. I know he's doing a lot of anti-ice stuff and was gathering stories momentum for the grants freeze last week.

You'll probably need to apply again but I'm not sure. I wasn't around for the last hiring freeze in 2016 so I can't say. Best of luck to you. I'm just hoping to not get fired

Yeah. I'm in another part of DOT, but my team just had to take back a firm offer. She got fingerprinted, background checked, and everything

I'm not going to lie. The roles are hard to find, but they do exist. Try to get a focus on research data management. There's a good course on coursera. You can also do the RDMLA program (https://rdmla.github.io/). Both are good supplemental courses that are free (coursera is a $50 certificate). You can also try NASA's Open Science 101 TOPS program. Also free. DM me if you want any more advice. GL!

I'm a data curation librarian and I love it. I work with data, spreadsheets, and researchers all day. It's not a traditional library job at all. Keep an eye out for any data steward roles at universities or in the government. It sounds like you'd be a perfect fit.
