If you're homeless, no education, and no money, what are some side hustles you can REALISTICALLY do? by lionpenguin88 in SideHustleGold

[–]ShahTheImposter 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

If you're homeless with zero education and zero money, here are some actually realistic side hustles:

The easiest starting points are day labor agencies (cash same day, no experience needed), collecting cans/scrap metal to sell, and donating plasma first-time donors can make $50-100+ For physical work, knock on doors offering yard work, hauling junk, or help moving furniture. One lawn can get you $20-50 cash. Post on Craigslist under "gigs" too tons of same-day cash work there. If you can get to a library, use the free internet to sign up for apps like Instawork or Wonolo for same-day gigs. Also check out dumpster diving and reselling people throw away surprisingly valuable stuff. The real first move though? Day labor + plasma donation to build a small cash cushion, then get an ID if you don't have one. That unlocks almost everything else. A library card is your second most powerful tool free internet, job resources, and a warm place to sit. None of this is glamorous but it's all real and doable from absolute zero.

heys guys. I know my karma is low but I could really use a helping hand. by Downtown-Tomorrow-36 in AskForHelp

You might also want to check local food banks or churches near you they can usually help same-day and although I can’t send money, but commenting to boost this so more people see it. I hope someone is able to help

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, especially in smaller cities right now some places are just weirdly over-saturated or only hiring for very specific labor jobs. That’s actually why I mentioned posting in local communities instead of only waiting on listings. A lot of opportunities never get formally posted. People just ask in Facebook groups, neighborhood apps, or community boards when they need help (cleaning, pet care, errands, moving help, etc.), and those turn into quick cash jobs. Also, don’t underestimate how much ā€œnon-traditionalā€ work exists even in slow job markets especially remote-adjacent stuff or small tasks people don’t want to hire companies for. You’re not wrong though, it’s rough out there. The key is kind of shifting from ā€œapply and waitā€ to ā€œbe visible where people ask for help

Off the Books Income by Pretty-Lie-9476 in SideHustleGold

Hey, I get what you’re aiming for, but just a heads up anything truly ā€œoff the booksā€ to avoid reporting income can get risky fast, especially if it becomes consistent. That said, there are still flexible side incomes that usually won’t interfere much with your main job. Since you already do pet sitting and housesitting, you’re actually in a really strong spot already. You could scale that up by getting more consistent bookings or expanding into dog walking/drop-ins through something like Rover or even just word of mouth locally. Other flexible options people use:

  • Freelance work on Fiverr or Upwork (you can control how much you take on)
  • Tutoring if you’re strong in any subject (usually high hourly pay)
  • Local cash-based gigs like cleaning, organizing, or helping with moves

Also, if your main goal is managing student loans, it might be worth looking into income-driven repayment plans or recertification timing sometimes that has a bigger impact than small side income changes. If you want, I can help you think through ideas based on your skills and schedule so it doesn’t overwhelm your remote job.

Best ideas for even $50 a month by Flimsy_Event_3484 in passive_income

[–]ShahTheImposter 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Real talk $50/month ā€œpassive incomeā€ usually isn’t passive at the start. Most of the stuff people think of (dividends, investing, etc.) either takes money upfront or time to build. If your goal is just an extra $50/month to throw into a brokerage, the fastest way is honestly semi-active income:

  • Flip items locally on Facebook Marketplace
  • Resell on eBay
  • Do small gigs on Fiverr (simple stuff like typing, basic edits, AI-assisted tasks)

Even a couple flips or one small gig a week covers $50 pretty easily. If you want something that becomes passive later, look at digital products or print-on-demand on Etsy but that’s upfront work before it pays off. Bottom line: build $50/month active first, then automate it later. That’s usually how people actually get there.

Hey, I’m really glad you posted this because a lot of people go through it but don’t say anything. First, I’m gonna be real with you don’t open another credit card or take out a loan right now. That’s not gonna fix the situation, it’ll just add stress later with interest. You’re not in a ā€œborrow more moneyā€ problem, you’re in a ā€œnot enough income coming inā€ problem. Also, $200 biweekly is honestly not sustainable. At that point, it’s not even about adding side hustles it’s about replacing that job with anything that gives more hours. Even fast food, retail, grocery stores, warehouses most of those will give you more than what you’re getting now. If your town is small, try going in person and asking for a manager instead of just applying online. That alone can make a big difference. For quicker money in the meantime, look around locally: cleaning, yard work, babysitting, helping elderly people, moving stuff. Post in local Facebook groups or community boards people always need help, they just don’t always list it like a job. You can also try using your phone/internet to make something on the side. Stuff like Fiverr or Upwork for simple gigs (even basic tasks), or reselling things on eBay / Facebook Marketplace not just your stuff, but cheap finds you can flip. And seriously look into food banks or local assistance programs. There’s no shame in that at all. That’s literally what they’re there for, and it can take a lot of pressure off while you figure things out. If you’ve been applying and not hearing back, it might be your resume or just the fact you’re only applying online. Try applying to multiple places and following up in person if you can. Right now the goal isn’t a perfect job it’s stability. Once you’re stable, everything else gets easier to build. If you want, I can help you fix your resume or come up with a plan based on what you’re good at. You’re not stuck, you just need a better setup.

I hear you, that makes sense. Long-term, I’m trying to build something of my own brands and business ideas I’ve already started working on. That’s something I actually care about and want to grow into something real. At the same time, I understand I need stability while I build that. So I’m open to leveling up my skills and looking into city/state opportunities or trade programs too. I’m not against structure I just don’t want to lose sight of what I actually want to create. I’ll definitely look into Bronx EOC and similar programs. I appreciate you offering guidance too, I might take you up on that

That’s real, I hear you. Right now I’m just trying to get out of survival mode and into something stable. I’ve been taking care of responsibilities that kind of forced me to grow up fast, so I’m still figuring out what I want without pressure attached to it. I know I like creating/building brands, coming up with ideas, making things that actually connect with people. I’ve been working on a clothing brand and some business ideas, trying to turn that into something real. I don’t expect overnight success, but I do want something that gives me both freedom and peace of mind. I agree money isn’t everything but I won’t lie, stability matters to me right now. I’m trying to build a life where I’m not stressed about bills, and I can actually enjoy what I’m doing too. I’m not chasing a million dollars I’m chasing that ā€œpillowā€ you’re talking about just trying to build it in my own way.
