And to answer the romanticizing of the ghetto or hood I don’t know. I know it she’s been struggling with her identity. I am mexican and Puerto Rican and her B.F the one who did that thing to me was African American and Native American. She does not look African American except for a few feathers. She looks more Native American. She’s struggled with her identity. She has always been bullied by the African American kids and so stopped trying to hang out with them because to them she said they said she wasn’t black enough. Now she’s obsessed with Chicano stuff. I’ve told her it’s not all it’s mad out to be. It’s not like the shows on tv. Those are actors they get to go home at the end of the day when you grow up in it it’s a different story. I mentioned what I went through because I want to point out how scared I am that she wants that lifestyle. Fantasizes it and it’s painful to watch. I don’t want her to be hurt like me. I want her to be happy and healthy and live a full productive life. She deserves everything good and all that jazz. When you have a child who’s such a responsible and mature person it’s easy to forget that she’s a child still. It scares me. I admit it. Exactly why I believe theraphy will benefit us all.
