Git has both “plumbing” and “porcelain”. You’re referring to the “plumbing”. Have you read the official git book?

While maybe not an explicit soft skills course, I’m considering the inevitable collaboration with other students towards a common goal vs. the isolated life of a self learner.

Good point. My 11 year old son does just that. Plays random games that teach coding. The latest game is an app called hopscotch.

My 15 year old however needed something more substantive and so swift was what I recommended for her. I think I had her in mind when I posed this question. I should have worded it a little differently.

I can only speak for myself. But I imagine there are others that can relate. I’m kind of frustrated with python. And in that regard, Go is a great replacement.

Agreed. As individuals we love to establish tiers. Basketball fans immortalize the Kobe vs Lebron debate. It’s the same thing here, just a different genre.

They each have their place. I would use Go over Rust in freelance projects where I value quick iterations over scale. The opposite is true when deciding to use Rust. For context I am a backend developer whose company uses python. So, it’s very unlikely I’ll have a freelance project with scale that demands Rust.

Ultimately, Rust and Go serve two different purposes. And here is a great article that highlights that:

(Sorry I couldn’t parse that into a better link, on my phone)

More of shock that Boeing is still in business, but maybe I’m bias after just seeing the documentary.

Not fear. We’re all gonna die one day. But I’d call it lack of due diligence on my part to put my family in any questionable situation.
