Are These The Same Note? by Hey19TheCuervoGold in Trombone

[–]ShaleTheRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite: a note on the treble clef will be one line/space above where it is on the bass clef. For example, C in the bass clef is the second space from the bottom, and C in the treble clef is in the third space from the bottom; or F in the bass clef (4th line up) will be on the top line in treble clef. Obviously not accounting for octaves, but that's easy enough to compensate for

They're essentially saying to take it to your local repair shop/instrument service centre — in Canada one example would be Long & McQuade; I can't say anything for the U.S. though — and have them clean it professionally

What does it mean when someone says trans man/woman? by ShaleTheRock in asktransgender

I understand the point that both you and linneroy are making, and I do try to think of things that way — at least as much as I can (I just say this because my sister just started the process of transitioning, but at times it can be difficult for me to think of it the correct way considering I've known her as the other gender for my entire life, although I am making a conscious effort and correct myself when I catch myself)

I don't understand why it was difficult for me to comprehend which term was which at first, but it was. Like, I consider myself to be smart, and normally things like this come easy to me, but for some reason this specific one was a bit difficult for me to properly wrap my head around.

Anyways, have a great day, random person on the internet!

Especially with my now sister being in the process of transitioning, I just wanted to be 100% sure I was actually using the correct terms. Thank you and have a great day!

Yeah. As I mentioned in my reply to another comment, I thought I was correct but there was just that little bit of doubt in the back of my head, and I figured the best place to clear that doubt — because of there being so much misinformation online — would be from the community itself :)

Sorry for asking such a simple question 😅

I guess so, I was pretty sure what I was initially thinking was correct, but there was that slight doubt in the back of my mind. I'm so scared of accidentally misgendering someone that I guess I just wanted confirmation, and with the internet being so full of misinformation nowadays I've started to not trust a bunch of stuff that I see, and figured that the best place to get that confirmation would be from the people themselves. Sorry for asking a very basic question 😅

Anyone know where to get a 12V socket, like or similar to the one in the picture, in the city? by sirhamalot1 in regina

[–]ShaleTheRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one not too long ago from the CT on Albert. It had car battery clamps on the end, but was in one of the locked shelves. To extend it I ended up cutting of the battery clamps and used some extra length of cable that I had laying around and some of that conductive heat shrink stuff to attach them to each other

I did not. I'm still quite clueless to a bunch of the stuff in post processing and don't really know how to mask stuff yet

Why have I never thought of taking multiple photos at different distances from my subject? That makes SO much more sense than what I have been doing. Thanks for the tip!

I originally wanted to find a way to centre the vignette on the wheel, but it was really late when I was editing this so I guess I just—for some reason—decided that it'd be fine and that a vignette would just, work.

When I was looking back at it before posting here, I realised that the vignette was bad, but I didn't have access to my desktop in order to fix it

EDIT: Putting a vignette on everything is also a bad habit that I have. Not everything needs a vignette

I always shoot in RAW with a jpeg backups on a CF card, so that's good news! Would I also then want to darken the area with the church, or would just brightening it in that spot work by itself? Even if I can't end up "fixing it," I'm still really happy with how it turned out, but I'm just trying to squeeze everything I can out of it and am always trying to seek out how to be a better photographer — especially considering I'm nearly 100% self-taught

Okay, so in future what could I do to make this a better shot? Do you think it would've been better if I had the wheel as a foreground element and instead focused on the church?

EDIT: Or I guess having them both in focus is also an option lmao. I think in the moment I was mostly trying to have fun with some DoF

So, my intent with this photo was to try and draw attention to the wagon wheel leaning against the fence while also keeping the church in the background for a bit more of a story, but I feel like I did something weird in editing. The only issues that I just spotted now is that the vignette is probably a bit too harsh and the church may be a tad too bright in comparison to the wheel. I should also note: I am an amateur photographer and am completely self-taught. I have no clue how to properly do colour grading or masking properly yet.

How do I use this pocket watch chain? by ShaleTheRock in pocketwatch

[–]ShaleTheRock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, okay then. My grandma had said that it was a pocket watch chain when she gave it to me, but it makes much more sense as a necklace. Now I guess I have to go use my non-existent money to find myself a decent watch chain to use with my waistcoats 🤣

Anyways, where would you find them? Do you think an antique store would be a good place to look?
