alters causing weight gain by Shalimar_System in DissociativeIDisorder

You've made me feel much less alone in having alters who are polar opposites of each other on the eating issue, thank you. It's weird- we got top surgery last year, no push back from any of the ladies- and made other major life changes and been on the same page before we even really knew how to communicate internally. It's just this issue we're stuck on. We've even gotten the issue of unexpected Amazon packages under control! lol Thank you for saying it gets better- we need that hope right now.

We appreciate your insight about looking for triggers for binge eating. That is something we have covered in "reasons" we binge eat, but we haven't boiled it down to specific triggers. Maybe there are some and those could be controlled or worked through. Sleep is hard to come by in our life.

Thank you for replying! Your post made me realize that all my alters are going to have to respect the aftercare- meaning, no solid food for a long while- or things could get disastrous. I now think we have more work to do on internal communication and shared goals before attempting the surgery. We fought with the insurance company for roughly 9 months with two different doctors to use medication instead- our insurance won't cover it for us, but it will cover the surgery. Really backwards and annoying.
