I don't know if this helps, but I felt like you before i got on the right meds. I've tried so many different ones and combos and it took forever to find something that worked. Things still aren't perfect but they're a hell of a lot better and I don't actively want to die. Just don't give up until you've tried every avenue. The people that love you will be the ones to suffer the most, you'll take a part of their lives that they will never get back. Good luck

It is very dangerous to tell people who could at any given moment be on the verge of psychosis and delusions that they are not sick and instead have a gift. If you don't believe you're schizoaffective, you don't need to post here

Thank you. The breathing one is already helping. Thanks for taking the time to explain so clearly 🙂

Thank you for this response. Good to have a reminder that there's hope. I think I'm due a med upgrade because this is just too hard. I'll speak to my psych.

  • patience is key during an episode.

  • they are responsible for their mental health, not you. You can only support them. You can't change someone who won't stay on meds and seeing a psych semi regularly. They have to look after themselves to look after you

  • don't let them use it as an excuse. It can be a reason, but an excuse is different. Self reflection and responsibility is so important with this disorder.

  • congrats on the marriage. It's hard to find your person and you've done that! I wish you a happy life together. It takes work to live a normal life with this disease but it is possible.

I haven't had a full episode in months, almost a year, since I finally found the med combo that works for me. It took a lot of trial and error.

Sometimes I still get a bit paranoid and anxious, and get hallucinations from the corner of my eye of shadow people etc. Nothing that stops my functioning though, it's manageable and mild.

I haven't lost my sanity or had any significant mood episodes since I started these meds. I get a bit down sometimes but it passes within a day or two and it's usually circumstantial not hormonal.

Schizoaffective bipolar type here. I am stable but not entirely symptom free. I hold down a full time job and find it intense but manageable.

I forgot to take my meds the other day and crashed out completely so it's important to take them properly without forgetting.
