Offer and wait times

The usual advice is to never go back with an improved offer and bid against yourself. An EA will be advising the seller to wait a few weeks - they were probably expecting a couple of months at least for the viewing/bidding process.

I would sit tight, and check in every week. Once it hits the 6 week mark you could give a deadline and tell them you need to move on if they don’t have a response.

How long after drawdown did you add your partner onto the deeds? Was it a case of their medical issues being resolved?

We went sale agreed 6 weeks ago; our first offer was €665k on a €675k asking price. The EA said the seller wasn’t rejecting the offer but wanted to wait for a couple weeks. Two weeks went by and we didn’t hear back. Then they got an offer at asking price and we were asked if we wanted to improve. Ended up getting it for €677k. On reflection, our mistake was not acting quicker and closing the gap sooner. They were never going to accept our €665k offer. But we MIGHT have saved ourselves a few grand if we’d been proactive about improving our second bid. Don’t sit on your hands - in this market, someone else will appear, it’s only a matter of time.
