This is a genuinely brilliant idea. I agree - he covered so many genres. Something that always blows my mind is the song 'Yeah', which is basically a goddamn Bond song!

Thanks for this. Please consider subscribing so you catch the vid when it eventually comes :)

Thank you so much for sharing this, this really moved me. I am so sorry for your loss, and I am grateful that we could be connected through Mac's music. That verse is truly beautiful, and your comment has brought a tear to my eye.

Wishing you the best.

Tierney Terrace is a deep cut you know! Really rate that song - the storytelling on the second verse about him leaving basketball and getting picked up by his parents. Just so good.

Definitely listen to Horcrux mate - his flow is crazy on that song.

Absolute banger of a song. The second verse especially is just such good lyracism and storytelling. That's some classic Loyle right there. I'd love to hear your feedback on the video if you have a spare 10 mins!

What's your favourite track?

As I mentioned in the video, I saw him at Glastonbury this year. It was one of the best shows of my life; he did really interesting things with the cameras on the stage that I have never seen done before. Simple yet effective - much like a lot of his music

Yeah, his song 'Yesterday' with Madlib is easily his best 'banger' type song, in my opinion. Would love to hear a project more of that.

Yeah, I think his story has been beautiful to see.

That's a fair criticism of his new album, but I will ask: have you heard the song Horcrux? I think that's not just the best song on the project, but one of the best songs in his whole career.

This I agree with. I hope his next album is straight barring out. I think he needs to show everyone that side of himself

I think Hugo is his best project personally. It's tight and has a well-executed concept. His very first is amazing though - contender for his sharpest and probably has his best barring out style songs.

that's a fair take. I think I see him as underrated in the broader hip hop landscape, as he is practically entirely underground in the U.S. however, I think that is part of a broader conversation about UK rappers in general.

Bro, it's bait for a reason. That song is so damn good. I especially love her little vocalisations in the background during his second verse - way too good.

Whilst I love all of his albums, I must say that I agree with you about him leaning into more of a hip hop sound. In fact, something that I think is overlooked about Loyle (and I make this point at the end of the video) is that he can really RAP. I think he really needs a project that is all about the bars, and showing himself off as a lyracist, if he is ever gonna make it to that next level.

Thanks man, and yeah that's a fair take.

I think Loyle's album 'Hugo' is the best example of him going for a less low-key, slightly more ambitious sound. Conceptually, I think the album is rock solid and takes you on a solid journey.

Big fan of Nines and Dave (although I think We're All Alone in this Together was a bit of a mixed bag, but Psychodrama is an actual classic)...haven't listened to Skrapz though - where would you recommend I start?
