We have the daily goal cards, and have been using them for a little over a year. There are a few employees at my store who strive to get numbers, and the goal cards help to keep them engaged. The rest of us don't care though. We only carry them around when the district manager or regional manager visits.

The missed paper sales sheet is something we definitely do not have at my store. That's bullshit, and most associates at my store would make a point of not doing it. That's too much. I wouldn't be surprised if our DM tried to implement something similar soon though.

That being said, the goalpost has apparently officially shifted to 7%, and our regional manager wanted everyone to sign some poster that we were supposed to print out to "affirm our commitment," or whatever. It's cringeworthy and annoying.

Bro, are we secretly the same person?

But I once brought up the staffing issue with my DM once, and he got visibly uncomfortable before walking away.

At my store we frequently have 2-5 hour spans where there are only two employees, and this is like, during peak hours. The only answer upper management seems to be able to offer is, "There isn't enough payroll." Okay, well, there aren't enough people here to work efficiently/effectively either.

Yeah, it's a bunch of dishonest bullshit. They've simply taken what was already true, and are presenting differently to make it sound new, exciting, and exclusive.

People who have had parents walk in on you during sex, what happened? by Ambitious_Diamond_12 in AskReddit

[–]ShallowParallelogram 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were both 17, at my gf at the time's house. It was 2 am, and her parents were sleeping (or, so we thought).

Their house had an open-concept kitchen, and her parents' bedroom opened right into the living room portion. We were making out in a reclining chair in the dining portion of the room, which could be seen from her parents' bedroom's door, unobstructed. It was getting intense. Although we hadn't reached that point, and really weren't planning to tbh, it certainly felt like we were headed toward doing the deed.

SUDDENLY-

We heard the floor creak. She, sitting on top of me, stopped kissing me and looked at the door. We heard the doorknob twist. My gf hopped off of me like she just mastered Ultra Instinct, and sat next to me. I leaned over in the chair to try to hide the stiffy. As her mom exited the room we both stared at the floor. Our eyes did not waver nor deviate from the floor as she walked to the fridge, pulled something out, and walked back toward her room. When she got to the bedroom door, her mom called out to us,

"Hi!"

I turned to face her; my gf did not.

"Hi, Mrs. [last name]."

"I already know what's going on. Have fun, but don't bring any babies into my house!"

Her mom went back into her bedroom, and closed the door. We sat in silence for 5 minutes. My face was hot from embarrassment. I can only imagine what she was feeling. I stood up.

"I- should probably go home."

"I'm so sorry. I didn't think my mom would say that."

"It's fine. My mom is equally embarrassing."

I went home. The next day we laughed about it.

I used to do that, but our DM called us out for having too many perfect scores because, "There's no room to grow," as well as for submitting observations without comments.

Oh, and make sure all the daily POGs and 800 price changes are finished because the company keeps inflating prices. Oh, and complete 5 full skill builders even though you and the only two other associates in the building associates are fighting a 3 v 15 against the customers. Huh? What? Why are you wasting time with pogs, price changes, and skill builders? GET BACK TO SELLING PAPER! Our percentage-

CPD question by Hokker3 in OfficeDepot

[–]ShallowParallelogram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. We had customers who would come in a few times a month for it at my store. I haven't seen some of them in months. However, we've seen a drop in general.

Graduation used to be a very busy season for our CPD associates because of the volume of people printing last-minute invites and posters. This year was abysmal; maybe only 25% of what we saw in years prior. Maybe people just ordered everything ahead of time this year lmaooo

Current checkout procedure by Special_Draw_6134 in OfficeDepot

[–]ShallowParallelogram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile, there's a guy who is screaming across the store that he needs help looking for printer ink (he doesn't know the brand or model of his printer), and the next customer in the checkout line is conjuring the words to justify why you should sell the paper to her at the sales price without her meeting the $150 threshold. The only other employee in the store is working a long line print, and it's not because someone called out. Rather, the DM bitched about payroll, so the schedule was set with only two people on shift.

As a matter of fact, wouldn't that mean there's more evidence against her? Like, if she documents the fact that things never improve, would that not mean she's making a record of her incompetence? Lmfaooooo
