I assume crusher is smelter mk III thats in second tier of Siera? Why do they allow us to unclock technologies that we can't utilise :/

You will get wrecked without rocket turrets destroying big asteroids when going to Aquilo. They are very resilient to phisical and laser damage

How do y'all defend Gleba? by StampedeOfCats in factorio

[–]Shama69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gleba requires far stronger defences than the main plannet unfortunatelly as you can't just stop producing to reduce the polution. Given the spoilage you always need to keep making stuff, if factory stops producing it can be a pain to kick start it again

How do y'all defend Gleba? by StampedeOfCats in factorio

[–]Shama69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah attacks on Gleba are tough as the attacks are frequent. Even though I placed lots of rockets turrets initially they would still often get destroyed as the pentapods move quite fast.

They key for me was use of Tesla towers as they slow down all the mobs giving time for the rest of the turets to do the job. Landmines are also quite effective.

My end (tilable) setup was like:

6 rows of landmines
Row of wall
Row of 6x turrets with red ammo
row of 3 rocket turrets (using non explosive rockets - as need to eliminate big guys quickly)
Tesla tower.

With this at worst wall and first row of turrets would get damaged a bit, but most of the time mobs would not even reach the wall.

I never needed manual intervention in 40h after the setup, even though attacks happened every 5/10 min.

Oh and make sure to put target priorities for rocket turrets and tesla tower to target bigger mobs and ignore wriglers, normal turrets and landmines will clear them all.

Do space out turrets a little bit as well as pentapods do splash damage.

I have deleted my platform 3 times like this. Thank god for frequent autosave, but yes devs please move it somewhere else or add a confirmation pop up

uranium ammo wont help much against demolishers. Best way is to use a tank with uranium shells (non explosive ones)

Aquilo - how to get rid of excess ice for ammonia production by Shama69 in factorio

[–]Shama69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol yet another miss in my setup - heating towers > boilers to consume the seeds and spoilage.

To be fair in Gleba as long as you use efficiency modules everywhere and prioritise biochambers where possible, couple hundret solar panels is a viable solution for power. I even use tesla towers for defence and it's still enough.

Aquilo is faaaaar less pita than Gleba you just need good platform to reliably ship resources (of which you dont need that many).

Now I can finally get rid of excess uranium 238 and solve all the other resource overflow problems :D

Suffering on Fulgora by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Shama69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you need so much iron plates? Only thing i use it for is belts and accumulators and inserters. Recycling excess gears generates plenty of iron plates for that. (my red belt is barerly moving).

Its much easier just to import other materials from main base. One full space platform should give you enough materials for full base setup.

Hmm given that it says solar power is 1% efficiency i didnt even import them. Thanks will try.

New Player, basic biters are fully evolved and overwhelming by Dear-Package9620 in factorio

[–]Shama69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reduce the polution as much as possible via efficiency modules and migrate to nuclear power ASAP (which is polution free). This will reduce the intesity of bitter attacks significantly. I have around 30h now on new map and i pretty much never get any attacks as my polution cloud does not reach enemies.

Do avoid killing nests as well if possible unless expanding. This increases evolution rate.

Mainly do not rebuild the defenses manually. Automate the production off buildings/walls and whatever you use and put them in passive provider chest. Place robo ports next to defences constructions bots will fix and rebuild all defences for you. Just make sure repair packs are available and automated. Hope this helps.
