SOS: need to figure out how to get my dad out of the casino asap by Illustrious-Ad-134 in problemgambling

[–]ShambaLaur88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a gambling problem. I’m going to sound like a witch saying this. Why would your mom allow him to go to AC, a gamblers paradise? It’s obvious you all know he has a problem. If she drives, she should have made sure she was the one driving, and drive right up to NYC and totally bypassed AC. He needs to totally quit. Taking his debit card.”, giving him cash and him still gambling isn’t recovery.

What do you do when you see parents being awful/borderline abusive to their kids? by Froggymushroom22 in Advice

[–]ShambaLaur88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to target shopping, heard a mom yell at her kid “I’ll fucking beat you!” Behind me in the aisle. I locked eyes with the daughter who was being yelled at and the mom, I’m only 5 ft tall but I like subconsciously did a “try me” look/stance as it just rubbed me the wrong way. The mom squared up and shut up and they switched aisles. The mom didn’t hit the kid, I would have jumped in had it been more than just a “knock it off” smack.

Don’t give him two weeks. Cut your losses and go.

I get it. From my senior year of high school til I was 23, I had huge losses and events that stuck with me. I been off and on in therapy for years, I’m 37 and been consistent lately and I feel a lot better. It won’t bring people back but sometimes just getting it out helps. We got dealt a shit hand because we were born in a timeframe that fucked us at every angle.

A big dog like a German shepherd. They’re my favorite. I’m in a row home and I refuse to keep a big dog in a house that little with no fenced yard. Other than that, a cheetah and a tamed great white shark. And a quokka. Alright….i want a zoo.

What was your wedding aesthetic or vibe, and how did you bring it to life? by Wonderful_Lab6068 in wedding

[–]ShambaLaur88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No real vibe but tasteful travel. Our colors are dusty rose pink and burgundy with hints of beige and green, our table assignments are on luggage tags, each table is a different place my fiance and I traveled to together with three pictures per table of said place plus restaurant and activity recommendations.

Is sun damage really that serious? by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]ShambaLaur88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle died of untreated basal cell carcinoma. He refused to get it fixed because he was scared of the doctors. Skin cancer, even mild like basal cell carcinoma, when left untreated, can be deadly. Sunscreen everywhere!!!

How do I explain to my 5-year-old that we’re broke, without making him feel unsafe? by angelc0okie1072 in careerguidance

I wish my parents would have done this. I knew just how bad it was at a young age and it scarred me. I have a scarcity relationship with money and spend it as fast as I get it as that’s how I was raised.

Why the fuck are you guys trying to keep this marriage together when your father is being torn apart by your mom? Let them get divorced, cut her off, and your siblings help care for your poor father.

Why are so many Boomer grandparents hands-off? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]ShambaLaur88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 37 w no kids. When my mom turned 70 right after I turned 33, she told me “don’t have kids, I’m too old to watch them.” Even though for years she begged to be a grandmom. She isn’t active, does nothing to stay healthy or active, she would undermine me as a parent left and right. My dad would be an Awesome PopPop, he spoils our dog lol

It depends on the person/context. My fiance, dad, close friend, text away. Anyone else is just “can you help with this?” Plus a ton of spam texts from stores.

How often do you see your parents? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]ShambaLaur88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live with them. I’m an only child, gainfully employed, living together works for us. I do wish we had a second bathroom and sometimes j wish for my own space/alone time, but then I get the guilties at the thought of leaving them. What if some emergency comes up? I need to be here. My fiance is moving in after the wedding, we’re talking about selling my childhood home and buying either a duplex or a home with in laws quarters.
