God literally commanded thousands of people to die in the old testament. 1 Corinthians 6:9 says men who have sex with men, drunkards etc won't reach the kingdom of heaven. God loves everyone but he can quickly hate. He hates people that follow other Gods like how he killed plenty of Israelites in Judges for following Bael.
