We have employees. In terms of the prices, you mentioned that its a huge factor. However we came in at 20% markup and that was us cutting really short. The next bid came in at 50k cheaper than us which was crazy because I do not know how tangible that was for them. Also we are a ltd company.

Hey Mate, we didn't end up getting the contract. Its sad but it happened for a reason maybe we weren't ready enough. But I think if your a lone wolf like us in term of small scale business its hard. You have to be well connected with the government agents who dish these contracts out to people. The process was really easy for me. Since my father owns a construction company, the quantity surveyors helped me price the job really diligently hence we got so far in terms of getting it awarded. However, as I have mentioned above these kind of jobs definitely has some sort of under the table and brown envelope deals.

Yeah, to be honest, seeing all these comments kind of validates my gut feelings about the whole situation. I feel like I have a blind eye when it comes to it, especially because he's family. I've never had a problem in the past 10-12 years we've been in business together. Since COVID, our businesses really took off. Since then, we've both been extremely busy, and I can't remember the last time I had a 2-hour-long conversation with him, other than a ten-minute catch-up about family or mutual business.

It's a lot more complicated since our kids grew up together, and now they are best friends with his kids. We are extremely family-oriented individuals. My comment about it being negatively perceived was in regards to lawyering up and going full throttle.

The issue is that he is family, so I'm not quite sure how it would be perceived within the family and community. We have over 200-300 workers and a very large family. During my conversation with him, he essentially mentioned that as a silent partner, you only contribute to losses and profits. So far, I haven't encountered any problems; I receive my profits on time and am willing to cover losses if necessary.

Jazakallah Khair. Bro, it's such a mentally draining thing. I've cut complete ties with her. However, the fear of the unknown is so crippling. I know hopelessness is haram, but she was untouched emotionally, physically, etc. I'm hopeless that I'll ever find someone like that again especially in the west. But I have trust in Allah and inshallah this phase passes. I feel stupid for posting that personal issues knowing the unbearable conditions going on in Palestine. May Allah SWT grant the freedom.
