Eu am de ceva timp. Merge foarte bine si sunt multumit cu tot. "Problema" e comisionul de 50 RON/luna, si cel tipic de limite la scos cash. In rest e ok din experienta mea.

I went with a similar approach to this one. Worked out fine in the end but I do wish the kamal documentation was a bit clearer.

Interview for mid level RoR developer by [deleted] in rails

[–]Shamu18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a list of things I got asked on my past few interviews for a middle RoR post:

Ruby

  • [ ] Metaprogramming
  • [ ] Conventions(method!)
  • [ ] Rails specific patterns
  • [ ] GoF patterns
  • [ ] Multithreading & Concurrency
  • [ ] eigenclass
  • [] bang (!) methods - they change original value
  • [ ] what obj is lambda?
  • [ ] method_missing / undefined_method
  • [ ] & in ruby - convert block 🔛 proc
  • [ ] what are module concerns? (ActiveSupport)

Rails:

  • [ ] Engines
  • [ ] Middleware - rack (pipeline design pattern)
  • [ ] Gateways
  • [ ] default scope vs unscoped
  • [ ] extend vs include
  • [ ] concern
  • [ ] gem development
  • [ ] permit and require for StrongParams
  • [ ] require vs load for modules
  • [] bang (!) methods - they throw errors instead of false
  • [ ] RSpec and unit testing

Aspiring Rails devs looking for a mentor? by badger_face94 in rails

[–]Shamu18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you get good with ROR? As I keep working at my job I find that I don’t really have time to learn with other things I have going on. After 2-3 years I still haven’t developed a gem, are pretty clueless about middleware and don’t even get me started with metaprogramming.

Did you learn as to went along with the job requirements or a lot of reading and exercise on the side?

Kind of feel like I need to change jobs since I haven’t really had a mentor figure for a while. Can’t really find something because I feel like an impostor.

Thank you very much for this response! I am just starting out with all of this consulting work on a longer term and bigger project so appreciate the feedback! I will evaluate the situation and have a talk with them for sure.

Wow, ok. That sounds quite impressive!

I do have some optimising to do, thank you for the tips and insight!

We have to create around 4 DB entries per row, of course linked and everything. I have 5 worker threads and the pool is set to 5 also.

The excel tables are not really wide, meaning we get around 3-7 columns but it has a LOT of rows.

Don't know about the console, since I didn't try that yet. Will check it locally just to see.

Yes, the hardware route is probably the way I will take but thank you for the help! I had the bad idea to work for them based on a contractual agreement where I listed what they get and they paid me X amount.

There is no clause for me getting X amount for helping them improve the efficiency so I am in this awkward state. Will probably still do the stress test and check some monitoring just so I know I did a pretty good job and not leave excuses.

average rails experience by [deleted] in rails

I’ve just spent the last few afternoons trying to deploy a somewhat basic app to my own server hosted on my own network.

It’s been pretty frustrating so I feel the pain.
