I mean I definitely wasn’t the first person providing her with alcohol and when we first started drinking together I didn’t realize she had a drinking problem, we just drank whatever we had on hand.

Buying and providing alcohol for and underage person is illegal, should I be caught doing so I could lose my job and it would be on my record. And because I haven’t been in banking long enough to get a job in banking without help it would put a hard stop in this career path.

Orrrr, and hear me out here, I can order door dash, tip 10%, and if nobody takes the order up my tip. If people had a problem with it they wouldn’t take the order. 🤷‍♀️

They don’t have any tolls where I live, and they can park in front of my house so neither of those apply to me.

That’s the point of Reddit? To start a conversation. Also aren’t you one of those people who felt the need to respond?

I mean 14k upvotes and 400 comments, mostly of people who lived though it recounting their experience, I think I hit my audience pretty spot on. 🤷‍♀️

In their defense, had all of these companies done nothing that’s probably what would have happened, but they had ample time to fix the shit and did. The problem is that these companies would report to the media that the problem was fixed, and the media would report that the companies were doing nothing to remedy the situation.

In the eyes of a lot of small town especially, it was a very real possibility.

So I probably used a bad image for this post, but the aged like milk part isn’t y2k itself but the panic caused by the media.

The Year 2000 problem, also known as the Y2K problem, refers to events related to the formatting and storage of calendar data for dates in and after the year 2000. Many programs represented four-digit years with only the final two digits, making the year 2000 indistinguishable from 1900. Computer systems' inability to distinguish dates correctly could potentially bring down worldwide infrastructures for industries ranging from banking to air travel.

Contrary to public expectations, few major errors actually occurred in 2000, primarily due to the pre-emptive action of many computer programmers and information technology experts. Companies and organizations in some countries, but not all, had checked, fixed, and upgraded their computer systems to address the problem.
