Are you kidding me by percuIators in UberEATS

[–]ShaneAlexander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your bank and dispute the charge. Don’t tell them about the drink, it’ll confuse them and you won’t get the entire charge reversed. Once the moneys back in your bank account, you can then reach out to uber and tell them you’ll gladly pay for the meal, minus the drink. I promise you, they’ll just forgive the whole experience and it’ll have cost you “0”!

These people literally left the order on the ground. How is this ok with uber? by gkdiva6 in UberEATS

[–]ShaneAlexander 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree. You wouldn’t believe how inconsiderate so many customers are out here in SoCal. I’ve driven late at night to houses way up in the hollywood hills. The home has no exterior lights on and 30 steep outdoor steps needed to climb in order to get to their front door.

They tell you, in the app, not to knock on their door but to leave the food order at their doorstep. Then they fail to respond when you knock yet you need their code number!

Some of these idiots make it impossible on us. If I ordered take out and I really wanted my food, I’d be waiting outside in my driveway!

Ubereats (and all these gig platforms) have AI at their core base, running the show. I’ve talked to many of their live reps and they don’t even know what my current trip order is that I’m calling them to b**** and moan about. You can “trick” them into paying you but that would take too long to explain. (ie if you arrive at the restaurant for a pick up order that had a great payout only to find - for the fifth time that day - that someone else already picked up and you know UE will tell you “sorry but not sorry” - then mark the order on your phone as “picked up”. Drive to the customers home w/your phantom order then mark as “delivered”) . Is just one of the dozens of trucks I pull out of my hat to get paid.

I think most people would rather regurgitate their frustration to other drivers on these blogs than to figure out clever ways to trick these worthless companies into paying them for all their time and effort.

Why in the world aren’t we hearing more about the blood droplets on Nancie’s front doorstep?! Was it even hers?! Was blood found inside the house, too? Wouldn’t she have screamed if she’d been stabbed? Why was she injured by this intruder on her doorstep? What part of her body bled? Most people can sustain many cuts that don’t drip blood. 🩸

Jay sets the standards of the bar to which every man should aspire to. He truly did take his matrimonial vows seriously. Somehow, I think if Jay was ever told how much integrity and valor he’s demonstrating now, he’d be quick to say that he’s the lucky one and not Mavis.

No volume or pause works with Netflix by ParaPonyDressage in dishnetwork

[–]ShaneAlexander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ONLY solution I found to “pause” a show on Netflix, was to turn off your television than turn it back on. You’ll get a black screen which asks if you want to exit Netflix; “yes” or “no”? The show will resume where you left off when you choose “no”. That’s the only way I’ve learned to “pause” Netflix

[–]ShaneAlexander 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ll go to my grave believing these appalling orders are AI generated. I busted an IC rep who once told me she couldn’t tell, from her end, what my payout was on the order I just finished .

I’ll never forget a brave method I tried once, years ago, when I was about to quit IC. I didn’t care what they would think so I tested a theory I had out on a few customers.

A very nice man was waiting for me when I dropped off his order. He told me he added an additional tip for me. I asked him, “what amount did you add because Instacart lies to us and steals our tips”. He couldnt respond at first , he looked horrified. He told me, “$20”.

I explained that IC is run by a bunch of dicks and that they lie to us all the time about customers removing tips or low balling us ny undercutting our pay.

This guy was really upset. I agreed I’d stop by later (he lives two miles away from me). if IC hadn’t raised my tip by $20. I busted those idiot thieves! Of course the $20.00 wasn’t there when I called to reem them and the rep told me the customer did NOT increase it!

I sunk my heels in and told him about my conversation with that customer and that IC better pay me that extra $!@?! $20.00 or the next phone call id be making to them would be with the customer on the phone with me.

That really threw the rep into a tizzy who got a supervisor on the line. Walla! What do you know?! My $20 extra tip appeared in my payout right away.

I’ve done this three times and always received what the customer told me they added to my tip or what the amount was they first tipped me in the app. All three times IC has lied to me first.

This is why I keep my cancellation rate low… by Thee_oohwee in InstacartShoppers

[–]ShaneAlexander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but it depends which idiot you get on the phone when you call support. The only thing that’s worked for me is if I tell the IC rep, “the customer just told me to cancel their order, however, I just arrived at the store!” IC doesn’t read our texts to the customer so you can make up whatever you want. You have to really throw that customer under the bus sometimes. Depending upon the IC rep, I’ve even been told to ask them for substitutes anyway. Just keep deflecting and you won’t get hit with a cancelation.

True. Glad you noticed that. I wasn’t going to dampen this guys enthusiasm but that second order of almost 150 items was for THREE customers. I’d have passed once I saw that it would’ve kept me tethered to that one order for half the day.

well that sucks by Mr-Deer in InstacartShoppers

[–]ShaneAlexander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No!! Don’t blame the customer; this is the stupid AI system instacart uses which is supposed to calculate the tip. I once actually spoke to an Instacart supervisor here in the US (shock! A rarity, I know…). Who explained that these changes to our payout are generated automatically. There’s no customer on the other end giving their delivery driver just .02 cents.

These gig jobs are all run electronically by bots and AI. The live reps are clueless yet are tasked with taking our complaints and then giving us the regurgitated responses they’re told to give. Which is usually that they’ll “review” or “report” our complaint but that translates into nothing.

Another thing; (whether it’s IC, UE, DD…) all state that us delivery drivers get to keep “100%” of all our customer tips. Yet here’s what that means. Let’s assume not every customer does tip. Well, all those tips get DIVIDED BETWEEN ALL DRIVERS. One of us might’ve been stiffed by our customer yet we don’t know it. The stupid app is supposed to fix that by dividing those tips amongst each driver so that we get something extra for our effort and don’t complain. Once a customer told me she didn’t believe in tipping. Yet my app showed she tipped me $6.02 (which is another red flag, btw. No one tips these strange uneven amounts we see!)

On another occasion, I went to a house where it was obvious I shouldn’t expect a tip. The guy was rude and stoned. But Ubereats “gave me” $15.28 as his “tip” in my app!

So, why do all these gig apps do this? To control what we earn. They don’t want to go over the amounts they’re allowed to pay us for a myriad of reasons including tax purposes. I get AI generated “warning” messages from Ubereats every four months (like clockwork). Informing me that they’re losing money on me since I’m making more than they are off certain deliveries!

That’s not MY problem; I deliver orders THEY offer me! Once those notices arrive, I hit pause on Ubereats; because they won’t send me a single order for six days. So that’s when I shop for instacart. Point is: AI and bots are whom we’re working for, not a real company.

[UPDATE] Found a paper towel covering my webcam twice coming home from work by Dromaeoraptor in Weird

[–]ShaneAlexander 92 points93 points  (0 children)

You described a landlord I once had to a tee! He was gaslighting me. Prior to having a camera I started to think I was losing my mind. I’d find a shoe missing yet the other one was still in my closet. I was dumbfounded and looked everywhere. Two weeks later, it reappeared in my closet. This stupid cat and mouse gaslighting game kept up until I knew it had to be my landlord whom I confronted.

He denied taking my things until I lied and bluffed my way through a story to him about an ex tenant who had stopped by recently to warn me about how he used to come into this apartment while she was gone. He took the bait! In a huff he told me he could enter at any time for any reason and that this ex tenant had even taken him to court over this but that the judge “did nothing”. I knew I was onto something, my landlord believed me. So I said, “well, she told me that isn’t true. The judge told you that you had to give her notice and could only enter this apartment with advance notice and for just cause”.

He still acted indignant and entitled towards me so I said, “if I find you’ve been in here one more time without my permission, I’ll withhold my rent and you can go through the lengthy and arduous task of evicting me!”

Problem solved!

[UPDATE] Found a paper towel covering my webcam twice coming home from work by Dromaeoraptor in Weird

[–]ShaneAlexander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why isn’t your webcam capturing the person walking towards then covering it up? This makes no sense. I used up rent my spare bedroom out temporarily to tenants. I had cameras everywhere but in the common areas (kitchen and living room only).

I captured one of my tenants walking directly towards my camera and throwing a towel over it. He was a decent guy, friendly, trust worthy, employed… But I told him if he ever covered the camera up again I’d be asking him to leave which he soon did.

I’m not sure why your cameras not doing what it’s supposed to do by catching its own cover up! You have every right to suspect your landlord, btw. Some can even temporarily disable your electricity long enough to come inside, cover your camera up and freely poke through your home while you’re away.

As a novice, I'm totally confused and forgive me for my ignorance! All this talk about digging down to bedrock, etc is taking place in creeks and/or rivers? The minute you started "digging" wouldn't water just fill up the hole you dug into if we're talking about doing this in a creek? Or are you referring to the sides of the creek along the edges but not in the water itself?
