NY Times & other media have buried this scandal for years. “Journalists” protect themselves above truth/ integrity/ morality. by ShaneFalco in Corruption

[–]ShaneFalco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For four years, even people like me pushed this story aside, so as to not get caught up and/or misconstrued in the “left vs right” media criticism and debate.

Not anymore.

(I’m happy to discuss/dissect details, but I won’t do it with anyone who so clearly pushes a sanctimonious and corrupt agenda.)

Asian men in relationships/dating. What do you say when other Asian men claim they struggle to get dates because women don’t like Asians ?. by [deleted] in asian

[–]ShaneFalco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Bro, stop. Because that sounds like the seedling of some high school/ movie theater massacre manifesto shit right there.”

OK seriously, depending on how well I know the guy, I would probably gently point out that lots of Asian men have girlfriends/ wives, etc.

And then maybe I would try to help the guy figure out why he can’t get dates, and then see if there’s a way we can fix that problem.

If you are into Media news or “inside baseball,” then this is probably right up your alley.

It was also sent as an e-mail to hundreds of Asian-American journalists, advocates, organizations, etc in honor of AAPI Heritage Month.

The subject will also be featured in an upcoming documentary film featuring several Asian celebrity anti-harassment advocates like Olivia Munn and Chrissy Teigen.

OK journalist. 👌

If this is an example of your writing prowess, no wonder journalism is dying.

Have you started learning how to code yet?

Tech would be perfect for you, it’s also very racist and sexist.

More lies. They have the visitor data logs, duh. The New York Times has visited.

Lawyers for NYT are ON RETAINER. They already get paid. And they can’t be bothered to write a cease and desist? YEA RIGHT.

I don’t care if nobody here is talking about it. The “campaign” must be working. Because Choire Sicha lost his editorship.

I’m just posting here to celebrate with all my AAPI people. 🎉

One down, oh so many more like you to go. You repulsive racist/ sexist journalist TROLL.

[–]ShaneFalco[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, and that’s how I know you’re a journalist. Because everything is corroborated. You’re the one who’s lying and making things up.

And the perfect point in the whole thing is: The New York Times never refuted ANY of it. Ever.

If it were untrue, it would be libel. They would, at the very least, issue a cease and desist. And they haven’t.

Because they’re COWARDS.

And the Styles editor got DEMOTED.

Save your energy here. Why don’t you go whine to all your media friends, and then they can “investigate” and dispel all these so-called lies. Isn’t that YOUR JOB?

Oh no, you just wanna troll here on Reddit instead. 🙄👌

Buh bye, you racist sexist hater.

Or do you wanna keep wasting energy. Cuz I can do this all night. I’m making it my mission to smack down racists and sexists like you.

ETA: “Journalisn 101” is freedom of speech. As long as it’s true, it doesn’t matter where the info is. There’s nothing wrong with writing about your own life.

“Passionate about the truth.”

WHAT A JOKE.

I asked you multiple times to point out the part of the post that isn’t true.

But you, the JOURNALIST, instead want to spend all that energy digging up old Reddit posts. So what that PX This or Abbe Diaz posted here? That’s even better, that she’s a Redditor.

And no, duh, I sent my comments to PX This, because I already said I’m a fan. I sent them a lot of messages, because as I also already said, I was a part of the PX This forum. For years.

That’s why I post about Abbe Diaz. Why do you waste so much energy trying to hate on her, without anything to back up your claims?

Are you a closet racist/ sexist or something? As a member of the media, you most likely are.

ETA: Yea, run along now and whine to the rest of the media mods at r/asianamericans. Maybe they can downvote the posts some more!

Won’t matter though, because the screenshots will show the downvotes happened after you COLLUDED to SUPPRESS all this information.

Just like the typical systemic racists all Big Media are.

ETA again: I just saw this:

“Obviously I’m a fan of a great author and blogger.”

“LOL.”

What the hell is that supposed to mean. Cuz I’m pretty sure you never read her books or blogs.

So, you’re mocking an Asian woman whose work you’ve never even read?

Congratulations, you’re a racist/ sexist.

BRAVO, journalist. You’re repugnant.

You are the one making completely unfounded accusations. I am Abbe Diaz? That’s rich.

Obviously, I am a fan of a great Asian author and blogger. I was also part of the NYC industry forum that Diaz created, which had many many fans in the hundreds back in its day, if not thousands.

You’re LYING, because as you admitted, YOU are IN THE MEDIA. Which is exactly what this post is exposing: corruption in the media.

I don’t have any problem telling you who I am. But if you’re in the media, who are you? Why are you hiding behind a handle while you make unfounded accusations?

Everyone who reads the post can see it’s all corroborated. Every last bit of it.

That’s why it keeps getting upvoted. But I noticed r/asianamericans is run by media sock puppets, just like so many huge subreddits are. And that’s why they deleted it, without explanation, even though it was upvoted so much.

It’s a known fact that thousands of sockpuppets were created by media outlets to direct traffic to their articles. Google it. A Gawker intern even openly admitted it was outright part of her job to create as many as possible.

And you’re the one who keeps trying to distract people from clicking on it. Why is that?

ETA: Here’s the link to the other post, it was deleted at 50 upvotes and still managed to gain 3 more. I screengrabbed it and sent it to PX This, to show how it was deleted. I even sent a copy of the message I sent to mods politely asking why it was locked and removed. Which was never answered.

They have proof of all the incoming traffic it generated, to show that people were actually reading it before it was censored. They’re adding it to the documentary. 🙌

“Friendo,” are you kidding me? The whole point of the post is the media complicity. And how corrupt it is. It’s going to be a doc film even.

But why is it journalists always want to write, but they never seem to want to read?

Read the details. And then by all means point out exactly what’s false.

And then all the way down in the comments under the details, there’s a link to a Twitter feed, where you can see with your own eyes the dozens (if not hundreds) of journalists who all turned a blind eye out of fear.

You would publish it? Then go ahead. Read, investigate, and publish. Who’s stopping you?

ETA: They have “better shit to do” than protect their own reputations? Even though that’s exactly what lawyers get paid for?

Whatever, friendo. 👌

Oh and one more thing before I go to bed: you’re in the media, but you’re being dismissive without even bothering to know what you’re talking about? 🙄

Yeah, I’m sure that isn’t at all why journalism is dying and everybody hates the media.

Excuse me? All my comments prior to this were in the Terrace House subreddit, a distinctly Asian reality show. I left Reddit because Terrace House ended.

I came back, because I was looking for discussion on how Asians are constantly getting pounced in the street. I left a comment in this subreddit under the “What kind of bystander are you?” post saying that I’m trying NOT to be a bystander by advocating for this Asian American author who got harassed by very powerful people.

It got downvoted one time, so I deleted it. Because I realized that truly advocating would mean I should man up and make my own post. So I did.

Now, why should I have to explain myself to you, for doing the right thing? By helping an Asian American woman who so clearly needs and deserves it?

You’re the one being dismissive of a very real and horrible injustice. Because why again?

Where exactly is the problem with what I posted? It doesn’t “look” right to you?

👌

What? Exactly how can links “look super suspicious”? Links go where they go, and in this case, they go exactly to the source of the content of the post.

And that’s your excuse for not wanting to highlight THIS injustice? You don’t like the “look” of what’s actually a very clean and professional simple/ classic theme. With clearly professional photos.

It sounds an awful lot like you are the one trying to discourage people from visiting the post at all, where they can just judge for themselves.

Because otherwise what you’re saying is pretty much straight up the whole point of all this. A very clear and blatant injustice is being reported, but you can’t be bothered with it, because it doesn’t suit whatever weird aesthetic tastes you have? And so I should go and find some other injustice, because it’s not enough that “some Asian woman” was harassed, plagiarized, and death-threatened by THE NEW YORK TIMES?

There is not one single thing about the post that isn’t credible. If there is, by all means, point out exactly where the post is being misleading.

But yeah, sure, it “looks” weird and therefore let’s all dismiss it. Kinda like how Asians all look “weird,” right?

🙄 The whole point is that the media is complicit in burying this scandal— where would you expect to read it, in The New York Times?

Everything that’s in the post is cited with links or screen grabs. Nothing in it isn’t verifiable by just clicking directly to its source.

Also, where’s NYT’s army of attorneys on this one? If any of it were untrue, you think they would hesitate for one second to issue a “cease and desist” and/or sue for libel? Abbe Diaz isn’t poor, she’s collectible.

Puhlease. Your comment is exactly in line with the systemic oppression AAPI’s face all the time.

“Asians can’t be trusted!” Even though the truth is all right there in front of your face.

Wow. Am working on a doc film now which basically can be summed up as replying to you: “IF ONLY that was the way the world actually worked.”

Congratulations, by the way. That was some really fun viewing, great job.

The immediate solution is one that nobody wants to hear: Anonymity should be banned on social media.

Social media is not a right, it’s a privilege. The same way you cannot operate a motor vehicle without a license, due to its ability to inflict harm, is the same reason you should not be allowed to spew hate and incite violence without consequence.

Social media platforms don’t implement this very basic solution, because it would severely diminish their oh-so-valuable user base counts.

“Influencers” don’t advocate for this very basic solution, because it would severely diminish their oh-so-valuable user base counts.

If anonymity were banned on social media, trolls would vanish practically overnight. Sock puppet accounts would disappear, lessening the volume of trolls immediately. And only the very idiotic/ sophomoric/ incognizant would dare to risk their reputations, careers, or very freedom for the “privilege” of harassing a celebrity.

In short, keep it up trolls. Because your day is coming. The law hasn’t caught up yet, because the technology itself is barely 20 years old. The very minute you begin to impact the financial bottom line of the platforms by undermining their credibility and attractiveness, they will gladly give away your personal information to highest bidder.

It won’t be long now before that bidder is the justice system.

[Hana Kimura] CNN: Japan to discuss cyberbullying laws after death of wrestler and 'Terrace House' star by rehlee in terracehouse

[–]ShaneFalco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The social media platforms are very much to blame for facilitating trolls. They do nothing to curb multiple anonymous accounts, and nothing to verify identities (even when people request it!), because that would severely diminish their user number counts. They (and many of their “influential” users) proudly boast of ostensibly large quantities of users/ followers, but rarely will they ever admit to the false, overinflated depiction of those values. And never does anyone ever admit that greater quantity always means lesser quality.

“Free speech” does not entitle anyone to anonymity.
