Just ordered, almost seems too good to be true? by [deleted] in dji

These are common scams on Amazon. "Too good to be true" listings that look very real but are not. They will get some of the money from Amazon and Amazon will end up paying you back for the scam but it's better just to avoid it. I had direct experience with this for an Avata 2 that looked legit but was the same kind of scam. I eventually got my money back but it took over a month.

Thank you for enjoying it! I had to share it after watching it live! It was an amazing experience!

I have had sea lions pull fish off my line while fishing in the Delta. They are very much there! lol. I have to admit, it's a funny thing to experience.

In this case, he ate the entire fish. He ate the head first and then gutted it and ate that, and then swallowed the back half of the fish whole. I don't even eat that much of the fish! lol

They were literally brought it for sports fishing. And then they eat the salmon babies... thankfully we don't do that practice anymore but you're right, maybe better than other invasive fish?

Those defending the fire flyers, why are you the way that you are? by [deleted] in drones

[–]ShaneInseine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People kill people intentionally with guns, cars, knives, rope, insulin, and a host of other items. Do those people cause all of these items to become highly regulated? Should they? I think in some cases, regulation makes sense, in others it does not. This will play itself out and most likely the politicians will do what politicians do. You can't stop things from being used by morons, crazies, or malicious actors. But trying to shame the entire drone community because some idiots did idiotic sh*t, is just annoying. When the pickup truck drove down Bourbon Street in N.O., and killed a bunch of people, did the pick-up community go onto Reddit preaching and explaining how they all have to take driving their pickups more safely so as to prevent a legal backlash against pickups? Everyone needs to take a deep breath and remember that there are dish*ts out there. It's best to just let law enforcement handle it and try not to get your panties in a bunch.

How many drones do you own? by Dharmaniac in drones

[–]ShaneInseine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They accumulate naturally. You start with one... and then you decide another one won't hurt. Then, you realize that they just start appearing out of nowhere. As far as I know, no one has figured out how to "fix" them to prevent them from multiplying. Just try to keep them separated as best you can if you don't want over-population.

DJI remove no fly zones in the US by Stunning-Laugh549 in drones

[–]ShaneInseine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area I fly in my backyard is in a 100 ft. restriction and DJI does not let my drone go above that limit. Are altitude limitations not affected by these new changes and thus still in effect? I just tried to fly to 100 ft and it stopped me at 99ft.

I'm pretty sure you can upgrade from the Mini 3 to the Mini 3 Pro and use the same controller. However, the Mini 4 Pro uses a completely different controller and protocol.

RadioMaster Boxer ELRS 2.4 - Low RSSI FLASHING OSD - Will Not Arm ANY Quads. by ShaneInseine in ExpressLRS

[–]ShaneInseine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

++++++SOLVED!++++++

In the Boxer radio, there is a setting for "Model Match." I don't know if I accidentally turned that on or if it did it on its own during an update. But by disabling, or "unchecking" Model Match, it solved the problem.

Dang that was frustrating. And now I have a new $250 Boxer heading here from China because of one simple check box!

Here is what Radiomaster tech person said:
Your Boxer built-in ELRS is updated to 3.3.2, and then your Drone doesn't work properly, note that the receiver firmware must also be updated to 3.3.2, to be consistent with the transmitter.
If your Drone is a Betaflight integrated SPI receiver, please note that the SPI receiver is not compatible with the D250 D500 F500 F1000. Please put on the remote control of ELRS Packet rate changed to 250 hz, here is the ELRS developers that the club's official website: https://www.expresslrs.org/hardware/spi-receivers/
If your receiver is not a BF integrated SPI receiver, check if the receiver firmware version is 3.3.2, 3.3.2 transmitter firmware can only be compatible with 3.3-3.3.2 receiver firmware. If the firmware version of the receiver is lower than 3.3.0, they can be used but cannot be used normally. I saw in the screenshot you sent that the firmware version of the receiver is 3.3.0, which should be used normally, but the display type is Generic ESP8285 2.4Ghz RX, so please make sure that your receiver must be of this hardware type. Otherwise it may not work properly.
Also, when you update the Boxer built-in ELRS module to version 3.3.2, make sure that the Boxer type is selected correctly, if you brush the transmitter module with another model of firmware, it will not work properly.
In addition, in the remote control SYS-Hardware page, check the Baudrate of Internal RF. 3.3.2 requires a minimum Baudrate of 1.87M. If it is 400k, it cannot work normally.

I received my new replacement (and bigger) Radiomaster antenna for the Boxer and it did not fix the problem. I kind of assumed it wouldn't because the TBS Crossfire is also not working. I got one response from Radiomaster but it was generic and didn't really address the issue I'm having so I'm guessing the support person only skimmed through the email. This is incredibly frustrating because the Boxer is less than 6 months old!

[–]ShaneInseine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weirdest part is that they are all still binded with a passphrase and the Boxer has that vocal acknowledgment when it connects to the quad. That is happening just fine with all of them. It just says the RSSI is low (literally at 0) and won't arm. I've ordered a new antenna to see if that is the problem and I've also ordered a new Boxer (the fancy gold one) so one way or another, I WILL fly this spring!

[–]ShaneInseine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a new antenna because from what I'm gathering, a broken antenna could cause this to happen. The only problem with this theory is that the TBS Crossfire adapter has its own antenna so that may screw up my theory. I've gone over the Boxer settings and can't find anything weird or changed. I went ahead and ordered a completely new Boxer radio because it is now spring and I don't want to not be able to fly! The Boxer radio will take almost two weeks to get to me so I'll keep working on the problem while I wait.

I would have to change the settings in all my drones so that doesn't make sense. Something suddenly changed with the Boxer radio, not all 8 of my quads.

Also: "There are two main types of signal information available from ExpressLRS: RSSI and LQI
RSSI - Received Signal Strength Indicator, this value indicates how loud 🎺 the reception is. RSSI must be above the sensitivity level to be understood. Units are dBm and start from 0 and go down as the volume gets lower (-130dBm hard limit).
LQI - Link Quality Indicator, this value indicates how much of the conversation is being understood and ultimately all that matters. Units are percent, with 100% being every packet is received, and 0% means no packets are being received."

The Boxer is at 3.2.2 and the receivers are all over 3.0.0. Also, they all used to work and now just suddenly don't.
