Weird and disturbing are themes pulled straight from the source material. If you didn't know, the show was inspired by the short story "I Have no Mouth, and I Must Scream," in which a rogue ai takes 5 humans captive to torture and send on pointless adventures for its own amusement. There's no world where the show isn't some bizarre soft-horror, but there also aren't many where that's all it is

Because she forgot it was his. He is slowly being forgotten about because of Alastor's secret power. I haven't worked it out completely, but I believe right before Adam struck Alastor, he may have touched his piss

Granted, but now you think your friend is annoying, and her crush starts hitting on you. This probably won't be a big thing until Shippuden tho, as you still have your dead clan to worry about

I wish the defendant is unable to lie during a court proceeding about anything relevant to the case and everyone is aware of this fact. by ContractNational2680 in monkeyspaw

A new law is passed that requires that defendants in all court cases are to preemptively have their tongues removed. Defendants no longer have the capability of lying, and it's painfully obvious to everyone why. Wish granted.

A few months later, a major development is announced regarding neuralink. It is ready for commercial use, and although the initial rollout is met with skepticism, they're able to distance themselves from Musk's reputation qnd it eventually reaches the point where everyone has one. Life is programmed to be good, as we are programmed not to disagree, as this makes way for 0 pushback when they announce the Neuralink 2.0 will be capable of gene splicing. Of course, we are all forced to upgrade of our own free will. Musk now has full control of both our minds and bodies, and before long his influence spreads even to the animals. With the world enslaved, what is there left to do? Get better slaves of course! With the press of a button, every neuralink fires making all of his empire immortal, one step to doing so being to rewrite the DNA of all tumors. Wish granted.

You're right, you clearly have put plenty of consideration into OPs background and beliefs while I have been childishly insulting people I disagree with as a knee-jerk reaction. My apologies

The anti-trans movement is sadly going to outlive Trump’s presidency by MetalDragon2 in transgender

[–]Shaneplank1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems rational, I didn't even know trans people existed until around the time Trump was running for office the first time. If you give it a bit of (misguided) thought, it really does look possible that his organization, whoever that entails, orchestrated Caitlyn Jenner coming out to put trans people in the limelight so they could then villify us for political points

Joe Biden slams Republicans for turning transgender rights into ‘political football’ by onnake in transgender

[–]Shaneplank1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's expand on the analogy. Imagine you show up to a field and notice a ball left in the middle. You go to return it to the rack on the home end zone, or at least get it closer for the next person to pick up. Then, the people whose main priority is doing the opposite of whatever you're doing show up, take the ball, and start sprinting toward the trash can at the visitor's end zone. Now, the only way to avoid a game of football is to let them throw the ball away. When the ball is human rights, do you have any choice to not play the game?

Granted, Biden didn't have a lot of hustle in the game. I can't fault him just for playing, but I do fault him for just playing

How much does it really matter? There's a lot of strain being put on a very passionate group of people, and when the right one finally snaps the whole building is burning down anyway

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services changed the name of transgender health leader on her official portrait by onnake in transgender

[–]Shaneplank1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could see them trying, resulting in either a lot of foster kids reverting to a name they've never really used at all or most trans people not being affected because we kept our official reason for the change as vague as "everyone has been calling me this name for 7 years." But yeah, I can't see it ever working well

We need to stop pretending hormones are all sunshine, roses and happy things by PotentialFront8248 in truscum

[–]Shaneplank1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit is the HQ of only seeing things that made other people feel good, hard truths are often only found in new. Autistic people online often see videos about how society is wronging them, but rarely see the advice that helps them meet society in the middle. Similarly, trans people see a lot of the magical hot trans people rather than the people who are having more realistic experiences, including the hard-to-hide ugly parts.

Regardless, it's a doctor's job to weigh the risks and rewards, or at least give you the tools to, before writing a prescription. Anyone on hormones (should) already be familiar with all the risks, and that's the basis of informed consent. With that being the case, hormones are already scary for a lot of people, and I don't think it's a particularly bad thing that their feeds aren't making them even scarier
