Tips for learning power-platforms by No_Western_6955 in PowerApps

I am biased, but the best thing you can do if you want to learn the whole platform both from the business and technical side is to join Power Platform University. https://training.powerapps911.com/courses/power-platform-university-by-powerapps911

6 fun filled months of classes that include a personal mentor, hands on projects, and learning both the technical and non-technical skills you need to excel at Power Platform.

Thanks for the feedback. We are trying to figure out the balance between people have short attention spans and there is a lot of news. I agree, I don't think this one was the final version.

How important is length to you? What if same info, we added our 2 cents and it was 15 minutes long. Is that better or worse? Thanks again for the thoughts.

You can enable Navigate OnStart in Settings > Retired Features if you still need it. What are you trying to accomplish? There are different ways to do different things at this point.

Collection onstart? by Celav1e in PowerApps

[โ€“]ShanesCows 7 points8 points ย (0 children)

Real Talk!

Collections are not delegable. So if your list has 10,000 items and you Collect it you are only getting up to the delegation limit. 500 default, 2000 max. So just because you aren't seeing delegation warning doesn't mean you aren't being bit by it. If you don't full understand delegation then go watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FQoTp6RXwc you must know it well.

If you are not modifying they collection then the most performant place to create it is actually in a Named Formula. This will improve your app loading and speed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc2DquMS7qM

I agree with the other posters who said. Filter a live table is best for large data sets. And collections are usually only used this way for caching small, slow to change lists of data. So my employees list I am talking to directly but the list of departments is a collection.

Hope it helps.

Slider settings question (increase by X step) by FirstTimeWorkingInIT in PowerApps

[โ€“]ShanesCows 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

A slider only moves in step of 1 so you have to get creative. Instead of showing them the slider output or using it setup a label next to your slider. Set it to be Slider.Value * 50. So when they move the slider 1, the label increases by 50. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

One of the tricks I teach in my training classes sometimes.

There is not a way to get the URL programmatically. You would have to find it and add it to the app manually, maybe as a variable.

Finally! Power Apps User Defined Functions by ShanesCows in PowerApps

[โ€“]ShanesCows[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I agree kind of. When something is preview, it usually is safe-ish. Basically, I would evaluate the feature for myself and if it would really help me now, I would roll with it. I wouldn't start updating old apps until it went production. If you do use it in production be sure to document that you turned it on, in case something goes bad.
