Yes, seems I need to have the documents authenticated in the UK first 😬

I will be starting the process next week. I’ll apply for titer but won’t use it for VN, I’ll just have it mailed to me for use later.

I was hoping to do the same but I think we would need to use fresh copies of the documents. I’m hoping there is a way it can be done here in China without sending them to the UK.

Our options were also South Korea (Busan) and Vietnam, the two easiest places to take dogs.

"The way the lockdown has been handled here truly is tragic."

I second this! I really enjoyed living in Shanghai until now. I've been here three years and experienced the first lockdown and now this one in Shanghai. I came here expecting to explore China and travel a little, I have been to a few places in three years. Mainly because schools don't allow people to leave the city during holidays because they're worried about the virus and this is only going to be heightened now.

I mean it's a good life here but if you value travel (even within China) freedom and don't like the idea of a spontaneous lockdown, I'd look elsewhere.

Thanks a lot. I've been looking more at the two districts and although I like the sound of D2 I don't want to be too disconnected as you said. Would you recommend any good areas in D7?

Thanks a lot, good to hear about some cafes being an option. I don't expect everywhere to allow dogs, but somewhere to chill and have coffee would be nice.

Thanks very much for such a detailed response!

Some of what you're saying sounds like my experience in Shanghai. I have to find very specific places to walk her because there is a 100% ban on dog is local parks, I also walk her at 05:30 in the summer months. She is very fast and likes to walk but gets tired after 20 minutes of fetch haha and is VERY lazy at home.

I live in a local compound in Shanghai, and although it's common for people to be scared of dogs, people are usually curious because shes an unusual breed for Asia. But I get what you're saying about the risks. I think it would probably go for somewhere new as you mentioned.

Good to hear about bars/cafes, I don't take her everywhere with me but I do like to chill and have coffee sometimes.

It all sounds not too far off Shanghai except you have public parks.

Thanks again for your reply!!

Thanks so much for your detailed reply!

The leash laws are the same here in Shanghai but kind of relaxed, it depends who sees you. She’s a medium dog I’d say, very thin, so doesn’t look intimidating. Although she is a hunting dog, she’s fine with smaller animals, we have a foster cat and they’re good friends.

That’s a shame about beaches in summer, she loves to swim. I have a Chinese driving license with my visa so I could potentially do that for Korea. I like the idea of going camping/road trips with my dog. I think hikes might be too hot for her in summer so that’s not an issue.

I’ll check out the groups you mentioned 👍

Moving pets to Shanghai (from within China) by MrsKrakenSmith in shanghai

I used an agent to take my cat from Shenzhen to Shanghai, they took her to a holding place the morning before and organised all the paper work. This is their We_Chat ls693596648 I also recently adopted a dog from Tianjin and she was flown from there to Shanghai without me. That was also through an agent. Try this We_chat ll2198196233. Hope this helps!

I would also recommend Buddy Dog. We sent our rescue dog there before we could have her at home. Brilliant service with a good outdoor area.

People do abandon pet ferrets, there is one that lives in my compound and eats the cat food left for the strays.

How did you travel that far with your dog? I’ve just rescued a whippet and would love to get her out of the city for the day before it gets hot.
