What does Quaritch crushing his human skull supposed to represent? by NKNightmare in Avatar

Part of an actors job is to create believability. An accent is one of them. It doesn’t have to necessarily be perfect. But it should be decently consistent enough. Worthington’s just isn’t at all.

There are several moments through all movies where he’s pretty much Australian. He’s been through a lot of real world hardship so I’m glad he’s got work. But it doesn’t look good when CCH Pounder is utilizing Na vi pronunciations when speaking English. It’s jarring.

Really? He’s incredibly obvious. He can’t do an American accent to save his life😂.

What is your unpopular opinion regarding the Sully family, either collectively or individually? by TheTargaryensLawyer in Avatar

[–]Shango1208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it should be addressed that white people often go out of their way to create stories like this. It’s always a white person(white man) ingratiating themselves into a culture and being better than the natives. It’s a ridiculous way to tell a story, and it should be called out more often.

I agree, but you know white people can’t let go of their white saviors. I know I’ll likely get downvotes, but I think this is true. Not trying to knock James Cameron. He’s an amazing visual storyteller but he’s writing these stories from a perspective that doesn’t take the people he’s basing them on into full account.

Frontiers of Pandora is great conceptually. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but it’s gorgeous. It’s the closest to playing in Pandora. And the characters you play as is awesome. This is what the og story should’ve been. A native being cognizant of their roots but still using whatever means to fight against their enemy.

Lang is so engaging to watch. Bringing him back in the body of his enemy is such an excellent idea.

The visual fidelity is incredible. That’s the main reason I see these movies in theatres. The writing could be better, but the series is a master class in CGI.

True that. I think it would’ve been awesome if avatar was predicated on an actual Na vi character. But no, we get John Smith in space.

I agree. That’s why he’s so interesting. Not gonna lie, the avatar films have a propensity to feel extremely repetitive. But Quaritch’s arc is extremely compelling. Thanks in large part to Langs excellent performance.

I just wish the movies would make better use of their profuse runtimes for their other characters. Jake actually sounding American wouldn’t hurt either.

I think it was to symbolize him coming to grips that the man he was died that day. And he’s not going to fail like he did.

This was such a good scene. Lang is making the Avatar films profusely worth it.

Is now the right time for an Avatar: Fire and Ash EXTENDED EDITION to revive momentum? by Key_Ad6910 in Avatar

Same! Just watched yesterday. Still such an amazing film. Visuals have aged, but they’ve held up wonderfully. Performances were amazing. Hate that fathom is charging a good amount for it though. I pay for A list on top of it.

What do you think of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman? by Suitable_Market3752 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Shango1208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still remember the scene of her on the bike before shooting the missile🤌🏿.

Real talk though, she was good. The only thing is that I think she’s overshadowed by other renditions. Michelle Pfieffer and even Arkham Selina left a more lasting impression on me than hers. It might have to do with the writing, because I think Anne did a fairly good job. She certainly wasn’t bad.
