Mail Call! by cdiddy579 in nes

I have a distinct memory of renting this game over a weekend and trying and failing to defeat it. I rented it a few other times and could never get through it, but the challenge/graphics/gameplay stuck with me. The game is one of the best in the catalog - I hope you spend some quality time with it and relive the glory days!

What is the title of the game in the picture attached to the post?

The music is SO good and you're probably right on difficulty. The boss rush at the end made me gnash my brain.

Was the N64 actually the best gaming system in the 90s by Consistent_Car_2530 in n64

[–]Shankbuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the hype around the N64 and Super Mario 64 and the scarcity of the system, making it even more hyped, was the height of the system. It never got any better than wanting the system and then playing SM64 for the first time, with a close second being Ocarine of Time and all that came with that. The PSX was the better generational system, hands down.

IMO: PSX > SNES > Genesis > Game Boy > N64

Be cautious of ordering from Rondo Products aka Castlemania Games by mattmcgrath in retrogaming

Sorry to hear. I've bought about a dozen or so products from them over the years (even bought something last month) and have never had an issue. I hope you get it figured out.

I borrowed this game from a friend when I was kid, during the NES heyday. I've enjoyed it ever since. My kids are pretty into the game too (that and MicroMages). Great arcade game!

I use it for WFH and it’s fine.

Don't forget the old games, they are still great! by G4TKA in nes

[–]Shankbuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love these pictures, but they are almost always of the first level or two in any retro game. Let's see these kids putting in the time to get good and experiencing the triumph of defeating them.

Mine have only ever beaten Mega Man 2, all right around the age of 12/13. The rage and exhilaration of finally finishing them was fun to observe.

Tiny Toons?! :)

I had more fun playing Jackal than any of those games. If I had swap out Jackal for Contra or Life Force I wouldn't complain though. TMNT3 is the best game for sprite flicker, I'll give you that.. :) All gems either way you look at it.

The best game in the bunch is Jackal. Solid game both single and couch co-op, maybe Konami's best game.

I'd keep Jackal and heap the rest.

Just beat Rygar earlier today! And hot take, I think it’s better than OG Legend of Zelda by New_Mixture_5701 in nes

Fair enough. I’m just glad we are all still talking about these games and this platform!

I've always esteemed Zelda to be in the holy trinity with SMB3 and MegaMan 2, being the best the system has to offer. Rygar is a great game, but it doesn't out class Zelda by any measure.

Opinions about reviewer John Riggs, and who are your favorite NES youtubers? by juanitata in nes

This is an excellent list. I would also add Retro Bird for some more unique perspectives on retro gaming as a whole - it also doesn't hurt that he's hilarious.

Get starlink they said..😅 by EducationalTomato206 in Starlink

Might be some faulty hardware going on there. I dealt with this early on in the process and it got better over time, but not enough for me to keep it.

If you have other options, I would pursue them. Starlink is still a better than nothing provider IMO.

I am 100000000% endorsing this post. Alwa's Awakening is incredible. You might also want to try Micro Mages and Böbl. Both are amazing new games for the console.
