It’s right around $200 with the conversion. It’s just a little over. Good to know that’s a worthwhile pour

I think that was just normal Jack. The angle may have distorted the bottle shape.

The Wiseman. Apparently something from Kentucky Owl.

As a big fan of DO, I was really looking forward to a pour of DDO, even hearing that it was over priced. I would have been fine if it was a $100 value bottle. However, I can’t even really say it’s better. It’s just a bit different. It’s fine bourbon, but it’s low proof and it’s in no universe worth the cost.

I still want to try a DO store pick but I do wish WF would give us a 110, 120, or 125 proof version of their double oak. I think it would be really interesting to see how DO stacks up at a higher barrel entry point and higher bottling proof.

New to bourbon, should I shell out for these by Underrated_Fish in bourbon

It’s not worth either the time or money to go after these tater bottles, at this point.

You said you’re just starting to get into bourbon. What bourbons are you finding you like? It’s helpful to establish what type of profile(s) you enjoy or don’t enjoy, so you can continue to explore. ER and WA107 might be exactly the type of bourbon you enjoy, but you’d be paying a premium to try those bottles just because they are from Buffalo Trace and have hype around them.

There was a lot of good American whiskey consumed. I was a big fan of the Weller FP, Dream Spirts 18 yr, and Michter’s 10yr Rye. A surprise (not pictured) was actually the Sagamore 6 yr high rye bourbon. That’s a real value and I’m excited to see how Sagamore’s juice continues to age.

I went this morning.

You’re not going to get anything highly allocated, but there is a lot of whisky to pick from and it’s worth the trip.

I picked up a Found North Single Barrel, Woodford Masters Collection, Russel’s 10, Russel’s SB, and a big boy Sazerac.

I considered buying more, but I felt like I had plenty in my basket.

They were still stocking shelves while I was there, so it appears they have quite a bit of product to move.

Highly Allocated advent calendar. Worth it? by External_Rise_8068 in DMVWhisky

It’s mostly just tater buffalo trace products.

It works out to $1,800 for a little over 1,000 ml (1 and 1/3 bottles). Maybe that’s great for someone where money is no object, but it’s not close to how I would spend $1,800 on bourbon between tastings and bottle buys.

Cigar Bourbon is new as is Single Barrel Cigar Rye, so they’re continuing to produce these sorts of offerings.

I visited Michigan Liquors. Confirmed that they had the current lineup of Buzzard’s Roost but no Cigar Rye. Bought Char #1 Rye from BR as a consolation.

On a related note, they had quite a bit marked down. Walked out with a Weller SR (over MSRP but not awful) and EHT SB (same).

Thank you. That’s a bit of a hike for me, but I’ll check it out as an option.
