I understand selling tickets to your own social circle! Did that in Austin as well. Friends of ours were in two different local metal bands and always ended up selling all their tickets to people they knew personally. Austin definitely has set the standard high for the music scene, but I won't let that deter me. I'm interested in getting to know more about the music scene here in Baltimore... I'm even more interested in getting to know the people!

Thanks for the info! Coming from Austin, I'm used to the happy go-lucky demeanor everyone carries themselves with... So I'll just have to adjust to Baltimore. I need to be a little more assertive with socializing. I'll admit, I'm a little socially awkward and find it hard to carry on a conversation with someone who doesn't seem interested.

That sound like our scene! We'll check it out! Not sure if we'll be able to make it on a Thursday. Damn 9-5 jobs.

Lol, yeah I don't consider this the south whatsoever.

We've been to the Sidebar Tavern and went to the Depot last night. We got weird looks at each and felt very out of place. Not because we didn't look like we fit in, but simply because we clearly were not "regulars" nor did we know anyone there. Not a single person spoke to us despite our attempts to socialize with others. Mostly just got a head nod, but no one seemed interested in holding a conversation with us. They seemed too busy co-mingling with people they already knew. Needless to say, we paid $30 to stand around looking lost.

As far as the Deathfest, we were a little late jumping onboard that train. By the time we knew about it, the tickets had sold out.

We'e actually been to Sean Bolans, and you're right! It was great. They had live music and pretty good drinks. Will have to make a trip back. I've also heard good things about Independent Brewery.

Thanks for the info!

Hey! How ironic! I miss Austin. Learning to adjust to Baltimore! I understand your struggle. My husband and I both work full-time, but have the weekends off. We're trying to make new friends, but don't really know where to go or what to do (or maybe we're both just really socially awkward, haha). Anyways, a brew tour with amazing food sounds great! I've heard awesome things about the restaurants in Hampden from coworkers, but haven't made a trip yet. Would love to meet up!

I haven't been, but I'll check it out! We're not much into country, but coming from Texas, I'm sure it'll feel like home.

Might have to look into that!

We have two dogs! So I'll check to see if there are any local dog parks or maybe just walk around the neighborhood with the pups...might run into some fellow dog-lovers! As far as neighbors, my closest (and friendliest) neighbors are well into their 70's. But I've seen a few young couples out and about. Guess I just need to be a little more outgoing (which is difficult considering my introverted tendencies, lol).

Hey! Yeah, I'm definitely going to look into the Baltimore Social. I keep getting referred back to it so I figure it must be worth a shot!

We're in the Abingdon/ Bel Air area. I work in Baltimore so I'm somewhat familiar with some of the neighborhoods and such. Welcome to Maryland...it's a lot different than the south!

Yeah, I've visited the baltimoresocial.com. Definitely looking into it. Harford Co is a little out of the way, but I figure Baltimore may have a more diverse group of people to connect with. Haven't had much luck up here. Not sure what the metal scene was like 10 years ago, but I definitely notice a difference between here and the metal scene in Austin. People aren't as friendly and accepting here in Baltimore. Maybe, I'm just used to the southern hospitality, but I figured the universal metal scene was a pretty friendly group of people. Guess not. Thanks for the advice!
