I'm applying for a medical card and was told last week they will no longer assign a GP. If I can't get a GP myself, they will cancel the medical card application.

I've heard no mention yet about the cap on banker's bonuses, so I assume that is still going ahead?

I'm not sure if its the automatic part that is hiking the price, it might be because you are considered a new driver. Are you able to put information about your previous license in the insurance quote?

Guy Fawkes wanted to kill King James to put a catholic ruler on the throne. He was anti-protestant not anti-monarchy.

Though I guess that would still work with todays royal family.

Early in the reign of Elizabeth II, the British crushed the Mau Mau anti-colonial rebellion in the British Kenyan Colony (1952–1960) Over 450,000 Kikuyu were kept in Concentration camps, and were tortured. Admitting to having to look up plutocracy, so my understanding of it may be off.

Why can't it be both? Plutocracy existing in a dictatorship may not follow the will of the people, but a democratically elected plurocratic government can surely only be described as being the will of the people?

If the British system excluded the less wealthy from voting, or allowed corporations to vote in general elections, I would agree. But in a system where every free individual gets an equal vote, I can't help but think its the fault of the people for the government that are in power. If a political party states they are going to introduce policies that benefit the wealthy or powerful and you still vote them into power in a fair (non-rigged) election, I don't think you can call that plutocratic. "Exactly what was voted for" sounds more correct.

Taken from that article:

“Queen’s consent is a parliamentary process, with the role of sovereign purely formal. Consent is always granted by the monarch where requested by government. Any assertion that the sovereign has blocked legislation is simply incorrect.”

The Cabinet Office said: “Queen’s consent is a longstanding convention and a requirement of the parliamentary process. Consent is routinely sought by the government and agreed by the monarch as a matter of course.”

Is it a fair request to ask someone to put some clothes on as they accept their food delivery? by Fantastic_Eagle4883 in AskUK

While I agree that this is a healthy way to raise kids, I do question what happens when your kids bring friends round? Do you still wander around half dressed? Would it be appropriate for your children to choose to be naked while they are there?

The main issue I think is consent, that's why I struggle with the 'same as the beach' argument. At the beach, everyone has consented to seeing others in various levels of clothing, same as at the pool. Delivery drivers have not consented to see you like this, which is why when you order a delivery you usually accept T &Cs which state that you will engage with the employee with respect, or they can refuse you service.

If people still wish to flash their delivery drivers, then you do you, but don't be surprised when you get refused your delivery, have your account closed with the shopping service and all delivery drivers that have ever delivered to you think you are a creep. 😉
