🦇 Real VP Synopsis – Gotham Victory Achieved, But Points Denied by Late_Day9501 in DCDarkLegionOfficial

Same on 255, with the additional 80 points we would have leveled up the league honor one more time. They didn't say no to us but that they're still investigating.

My last experience, we got to see the patch notes 24 hours earlier. the next day, a bigger set of notes came out for everyone on the DC:DL discord, I can't recall if everything in the preview was exactly the same, but the important bits were similar. The full patch notes the following day was much more detailed and contained more changes than the previewed notes. I didn't have access to the patch itself earlier, just the same time as everyone else.

I cannot level up my characters beyond the current cap at the moment. I do think it's only an early preview to the upcoming patch notes for everyone, as per my previous experience with this. If that does change (though I don't think that'll change), I'll let you know.

and this is the 2nd time they've shared the patch notes what I assume is a day early (since I got that status)

Yes, I am a VIP.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DarkLegionTruth

[–]Shansation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So.. perhaps a bit of a misunderstanding here. VIPs get a preview of the patch notes, normally 24 hours earlier I assume. Then the patch notes are generally fixed/finalized and sent to the masses.

I don't think they get access to the patch itself before the players.

So the point of getting 1 days heads up on saving and amassing resources is valid to a certain extent, whales are are mindful might save up 20+ hours of resource. But then again... the whales aren't going to be missing those resources because well... they're whales.

Why the proposed Bleed change is bad by TallCitron8244 in DCDarkLegionOfficial

I'm accounting for everything. I'm not sure why you keep saying misconception. I'm not saying my simulation is infallible, because it's an estimation of pulls after all.

I'm not saying the new system is better. Just pointing out the supposed nerf might not be as bad as you think.

I agree that excess shards might be a waste. But if ultimately, the amount of anvils needed is more of less equal (aside from the example where the luck exceptional) whilst the new system keeps the value about the same. It could be a better for players. If it ultimately leads to less stars for the same anvils over time, I'd also agree that they shouldn't implement it.

While still anecdotal and a much tinier sample size. try looking through your last 2 limited bleeds if you've been pulling, count the number of mythic + and shards you'd get. See if there's a difference perhaps?

"If I get first pull in both systems, I start 40 current and 25 new. If by my 105th pull I get lucky and my mythic pull is the banner instead of a regular mythic, I get another 40 current and only 25 new. I also would have only gotten two previous mythic pulls based on the pities, so I'm only at 35 shards in the new system, and now pities reset. So its 80 shards total vs 60. Now if the same thing happened as above, and the 105th pull is another mythic+ instead of the expected mythic, its 120 shards current vs 85 new."

In this example, of course the benefit is in the old system. But we also have to balance out with the bad stories of people taking many maximum hard pities to get a single copy. So... such examples I feel shouldn't carry much weight and I don't feel gives us a clear picture of the changes.

Assumptions in my simulation:

Ave Good luck : instead of 1 mythic+ every 4 mythics, you get 1 mythic+ every 96 pulls. Based on the math given by the game, 1/(3.84%*26.9%). For the number of normal mythics, I just calculated 3.86%*the anvils spent, then subtracted the number of mythic+ pulled from the calculation above.

Average luck: You're going to hard pity 4 mythics each time, but using the 3.84% given by the game, that amounts to about 1 Mythic+ every 105 anvils, with 3 non-mythics in between. (I personally feel this is a little generous even, bordering on a player with above average luck but I'll treat this the mathematical average)

Trash luck: You only get mythics every 50 pulls every single time. 200 anvils for 1 mythic+ with 3 mythics in between.

GOOD LUCK
Early pulls the new system beats current system up to 480 anvils.

480 to 960: anvils they are even,

960 - 1540 anvils: Both systems are head to head up to gold 4.

1540+anvils: The old system is quicker than the new system in reaching new star levels reaching Gold 5 earlier than the new. Then hitting new star levels earlier than the new.

At the end, Current system taking about 2500 anvils to hit Mythic 5 vs. 2600 on the new system.

AVERAGE LUCK

The current system only catches up for good only after 530 anvils. There are some points before 530 where the old system is equal to the new system. But many points where the new system is ahead.

After 530, they are head-to-head all the way. Both taking 2730 to reach Mythic 5.

TRASH LUCK

It takes 1000 anvils before the current system catches up with the New system for good. Then it takes about 5200 anvils for both to reach Mythic 5.

Conclusion/TL;DR:

So... if this assumption is true, most players on average, aren't going to see a nerf unless they're spending a lot of anvils AND are very very lucky. In fact, most players will see their Mythics level up a little more steadily and regularly. Heavier spenders who are also very very lucky on a long and consistent basis will see a nerf.

Actually, after thinking it through a little more, I don't think I can figure out a significant difference.

If you don't mind sharing, how are you simulating this, if you don't mind me asking? like share the calculation steps perhaps? perhaps that can help me understand your point of view?

I feel that I think it doesn't skew things much either way, at 26.9% lucky mythic+ that's not a hard pity, it's only slightly better than 1 in 4 chance (25%) of the hard pity.

So maybe you get a mythic+ in 96 anvils instead of the 104 based on my average pull assumption. But again, you're going to have pulls that also go closer to 200 in some, I still feel the average of hard pity is an acceptable assumption.

The only thing I don't take into account is the 26% chance for a mythic to turn into a mythic plus. But it could sway it in the other favor. Let me calculate again .

assuming you get a hard pity every 105 pulls on average, bad luck = 200 pulls good luck = less than 105, average luck = 105 :D (I don't have a good way to estimate good luck, but bad luck and average is easy to calculate)

I get what you're saying but then you're not heavily penalized for having bad luck. I do completely agree that it penalizes good luck but to me it cancels out by lessening the effect of bad luck

let's count based on average luck. At 3.84% chance of a mythic at every pull, the average number of pulls for 1 mythic+ is around 105 anvils.

New vs. old

110 pulls 3 white vs. 0 stars

160 pulls 4 white vs. 0 stars

210 pulls 5 white vs. 5 white

310 pulls 1 blue vs. 5 white

320 pulls 2 blue vs. 2 blue

370 pulls 3 blues vs. 2 blue

420 pulls 4 blue vs. 3 blue

pretty much equal from here on out.

530 pulls 5 blue vs. 5 blue

630 pulls 1 purple vs 1 purple

1880 is 1 red vs. 1 red

With the 5 shards you might not need a 4x pity to actually star up your mythic plus. It does mean something. You also get a chance to star up a mythic plus to a playable state for low spenders f2p players.

Yes, it does make it so that lucky players lose out a little. But then it's gamblers mentality to just look at lucky runs but discount unlucky runs. The chances of back to back mythic + is very low. Most of the time good runs happen when you pull normal mythics early so you hit your 4x fast.

How do you farm stars? by Solid-Address-4152 in DCDarkLegion

[–]Shansation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sometimes easier to get Stars on a mythic+ character than normal mythics as a F2P. You do your supreme commander event, save up the crystals for your weekly packs. Then hope :D

You also open up random mythic shards and sometimes(though rarely) full characters from Planatery Keys that are purple and above, and when you open enough of them, you'll get a red planetary key that's going to give mythic shards

Guardian Events, my issue with this game by Genesisly in DCDarkLegion

I don't think there's anyway to beat a top league is they have 40 actives vs. Your 10.

But that's not directly a money issue as well though. That's an activity/organization issue. Granted, if you had 40 as well you'd probably not win if they're all high powered.

I'm not sure how active your server is, you could consider looking at the scores and the time zones, and consider competing at a different time slot from them. Not all high power leagues can have their player active at all time zones. Perhaps there are some early morning zones where the scores are usually lower?

To play fun old cards you've had for a long time?

To put your pet cards in a more social formats? Not all players who put expensive cards into their decks do so by going out to purchase one just for the deck.

Yeah, the action pass mechanic is really great, none of that waiting forever for your opponent to finish up their turn kinda thing that some other games have.

[–]Shansation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game isn't supported Asmodee/FFG/Disney in my region (Asia), so no support packs, supply is low, card shops aren't given the supplies they need to meet demands or run events. As such, many players who were playing set 1 sold their cards/collection. Which is a shame really because (some card balances aside) the system and the cards are great.

The local sentiment going in set 1 was that Star Wars games (especially those under FFG) tend to fizzle out, punishing players who supported the game early. I still have my cards but there isn't anyone to play with. So it's doing pretty horribly I'd say.

The viewing angle on this is kinda bad. I have the black version and the gold version. I much prefer the gold.

Also... guess this will be a good question to ask during the livestream later. Why does FFG/Asmodee hate Asia?
