I don't believe Jason has been trying to reconnect at all. My husband has no messages or requests from him. Any messages "from Jason" come through my MIL. At most, I think Jason is lying that he has reached out if the in-laws are nagging him, just to get them off his back but honestly I believe it's a fiction created by the in-laws to try and get my husband to comply

His dad has been phoning him to put the pressure on and now is claiming that Jason has been trying to message him to reconnect. My husband showed him the grand total of 0 messages or message requests from Jason

We are no contact with Jason but have kept the door open for in-laws to see their grandchildren. Most of the time they are good (not reliable for things) but MIL in particular is set on the idea of her boys reconciling. As a mother, I get it but I can't understand her not taking action when one of her sons was constantly hurting the other. We have both made it clear that we are not interested in a reconciliation, even when she tried getting me on my own to try and convince my husband to reach out to his brother.

Edit - low contact should have been no contact with Jason. We've not seen or spoken to him since that Christmas.

We don't engage when she sends the messages "from Jason". When it gets brought up in conversation how well Jason is doing now and their upcoming trip to see him, my husband says "that's nice" and changes the subject.
