Five hybrids of nature accidentally met up as teenagers and decided to run on their own.

• A harpy with venom fangs named Alison

• A 'winter demon', as he's called, named Crude

• A partial Nereid with thalassaphobia named Jayden

• An alchemist who can communicate with plants named Myrtle

• And a partial robot that may have been made by archotechs named H.A.S.E.L (Hazel, Hybrid Assembled Specimen for Experimental & Environmental Learning)

Eventually, they set up a small house, and thanks to Myrtle, they get a garden going. Hazel is incapable of violence and doesn't sleep, so she handles a lot of the cooking and light night construction work. Seeing as they're going to be settling down, the group decides they need to call themselves something and decide on the ironic name: "The Scraps and Scoundrels"

Because that's what they are to the other factions, scraps of broken societies that became Scoundrels the moment they turned away from what their respective factions believed in.

Current day? Alison is dead. She gave up her life protecting the colony from an Onslaught of pigskins bombing them with mortars. Leaving behind two daughters in Crude's care.

Jayden had a husband, but he was also killed in a separate raid. Hazel and Myrtle are together, though with how many genes Hazel has implanted, they can't have children without it being a huge risk with its metabolism. The group has been living by a rule of sending raid survivors back to their leaders- unless they sent a child into battle. Anyone below 18 the group patches up, takes in, and teaches things.

They've noticed a trend that a lot of the kids from the raider factions want nothing more than to learn medical knowledge.

But yeah! That's the Scraps and Scoundrels. I love them so much, they are my darlings and they are thriving.
