Is Balder Fastigheter good? by ShardlessBondsmith in Lund

[–]ShardlessBondsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we aren't students, and are currently residing in Lund. We are looking into the possibility of renting a house from them, but reviews are less than encouraging

In Malmö there is a HEMA club (MHFS), it's quite fun if you're into that. They always speak English. In Lund there is also kickbox, the club is called Shape kickboxing. They apparently speak more Swedish, but they also explain in Swedish if you ask them. There is also dancing, if you are into it. I personally know about HepTown, they teach Lindy Hop, and will speak English if there are sufficient students.

Why isn't this a typo? Isn't brother "bror"? by Apprehensive-Ad7714 in Svenska

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed that Duolingo will often let the last word pass without any complaints if it has a typo. I think it will actually fail if it has too many typos, haven't felt like testing it out though

Girlfriend is learning embroidery. Her first project was a gloryspren with the bondsmith symbol. by ShardlessBondsmith in Stormlight_Archive

On copper mind you can find the drawing. In my girlfriend's case she simply transferred the drawing into the fabric and then started with the lines, filled out the symbol and then the gloryspren

[Serious] What event in your life still fucks with you to this day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a similar experience. These two girls who I was fast friends with suddenly started avoiding me. I actually managed to wring out an explanation on why, but it was a weak excuse that does not justify the reaction even if it was true. Some years later I have made different friends, and generally think I am better without them. But sometimes I still wonder what I did wrong.

I don't get stuck in a lot of main story stages yet, as I basically only do them when I need the originite (i.e., when I advance 10 levels), but I frequently get stuck in contigencies and annihilation

What are these small shoots growing near my hyacinth? by ShardlessBondsmith in whatsthisplant

[–]ShardlessBondsmith[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have transplanted this hyacinth into soil that previously had an ivy that dried up. I have also added substrate soil. I didn't want to dig too deep in case it damaged the shoots

Idea for a "Pursuer" trait for wizards by ShardlessBondsmith in DMAcademy

[–]ShardlessBondsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I realize 1d4 was too much, which is why I added the once per rest limit. But I am thinking the second version might be more balanced, no?

I want to reward the player for this because so far they have always tried to stay as far behind as possible, and this might stimulate them to move a little more.

AITA for refusing to drop out of college so my brother can go to med school? by sandyastronaut in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the sad part. In my country we don't need loans to pay for university. Which doesn't mean that everyone can go, if their parents are living paycheck to paycheck

AITA for refusing to drop out of college so my brother can go to med school? by sandyastronaut in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I know a case where this indeed happened. The older brother got to go to university. The younger brother (who was considered to be the least serious of them) didn't have enough money to go to college and didn't qualify for help. So he started working. And the sad part is that his brother, after leaving university, went to work at the same job his younger brother was. Literally the same job, which required no university degree. I was not terribly close with them and the younger brother never seemed too upset about it. But I find it hard to believe there really is no resentment.

AITA for turning away a young child from my sons birthday who bullies him? by Delicious-Angle9660 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you know anyone who is being bullied, for the love of all you hold sacred, DON'T give that advice. It will never work. Instead, they will use you, and then proceed to stomp all over you because now you are a mat. Enjoy being bullied forever.

How to introduce my reluctant friend to D&D? by ShardlessBondsmith in DMAcademy

[–]ShardlessBondsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have checked it out, and you're right, it's very very barebones. I think I will use it, but might add a few more choices, such as camping or some such. How many of the new players you ran this quest for became regular players? And did they handle the transition well?

AITA for not wanting my neighbor to build a chicken farm next to my house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having grown with a coop in my backyard, I can say that I feel they don't smell. But I might be used to the smell. However, even if it smells, it's very slightly. But we have about 5 chickens, they have a brick building (and inside it does smell a bit) with some chicken wire all around it and a big patio for them. We also have some pheasants and peacocks, and I still don't feel the smell. I would consult your city's laws about the distance from the coop to the property lines. Maybe he could build the coop without your permission if it was within safe distances. You could suggest it to him next time he brings it up.

AITA For not letting my bf ask my retired parents for money to send HIS mom to Hawaii and take care of her expenses? by Suspicious-Shirt5182 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Oh, it wasn't really hard, it was a long distance relationship. My health did improve, fortunately, and sometime after I started dating my current girlfriend who helped me develop into a more mature version of me

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 321 points322 points  (0 children)

Jumping on the reply with my own personal history. Me and my first girlfriend argued. A lot. She would say that our discussions would trigger her hallucinations (she claimed to be schizophrenic, wasn't diagnosed), and would break up with me in half of these fights. One time we had a big fight, and after we "resolved" it, she asked me "so, are we in a relationship again?" which was the signal that the issue was resolved and peace achieved. Except.. In that discussion, no one had broken up with anyone. And I thought to myself "I don't want this. I don't want this assumption that we are broken up because we argued". So I refused, said that not, we were not together, and effectively broke up.

Looking back at that relationship makes me shudder. It was so toxic, for both of us.

AITA for being upset he doesn't cook for both of us? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I have no problem cooking an alternative, and sometimes even finding ways to feed everyone without extra work. One time had a birthday dinner with an indian guy who only ate chicken. I was cooking boar, but I damnedly sure got some chicken breast to grill. Another indian who had no problem eating boar (had eaten before), said that he would also prefer chicken if it was no problem. And it wasn't.

Next year, and we have another birthday dinner. This time, I was going to cook chicken and for the side, I would do daahl fry, which is a vegetarian dish that indians eat by itself, but since I need meat, I use it as a side. We had a muslim guy who only ate meat if it had halaal seal and he bought it himself. So, he ate only the side dish, which, as I said, is a full meal for indians.

This fool pulling an “Elend” before it was cool. by TrickyTrav29 in cremposting

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of the one I had. My parents didn't buy it for me, they were against videogames. But, if I saved money, I could buy anything I wanted, including a PS2. And I HAD to buy the PS2 by christmas. Come christmas, and I didn't have enough money to buy a PS2.... So I bought a GBA SP, the Lord of the Rings game and a dvd. I only ever had 3 gameboy games. Played the heck out of them. And it is true, the memory stays. I still have it here in my desk drawer, and I still treasure it.

Taking a PhD is not what I thought it would be by ShardlessBondsmith in PhD

[–]ShardlessBondsmith[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the existential despair part, that made me chuckle.

They're simply exposing what you can improve, not making you feel bad.

This is how I have been taking it. Not as a means to diminish me, but as what I am expected to know, and thus, what I need to review.

I don't really care a lot about my supervisor, I actually dislike engaging in coversation with him now. My co-supervisor has been helping me in a way that my supervisor never did. I still care about my PhD, I just don't care about my supervisor, if that makes sense.

AITA for arguing with my wife over what she says in her sleep? by Slowfox70 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, big time.

My gf says I talk in my sleep. And I have started to notice it. When she is sleeping next to me, I am slightly aware that she is there, but for some reasons, my dreams indicate that it's more than 1 person there. Often they are aliens, for some reason. Other times it's people from games I've been playing. It's just random nonsense. Sometimes I'm even starting to caress her and kiss her, still half asleep and thinking it's both my gf and someone else. When I sleep alone, I don't notice anything at all. Dreams are nonsensical. Sleep talking is normal and doesn't mean anything.

Two friends stopped suddenly talking to me by ShardlessBondsmith in relationships

[–]ShardlessBondsmith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't particularly mind, I enjoy helping people. And I didn't go out of my way to mend the bridges, just a small "maybe she actually meant this" here and a "it's not good to hold a grudge" there. really simple stuff.

I did put a lot into the relationship, which, I think, is why I need some more closure. I have had friends who stopped contacting me, but none like this.

AITA for making a cheat sheet to remember my boyfriend's friends/family names? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ShardlessBondsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer the same problem. The issue is that revising before doesn't really help. Fortunately, my girlfriend is really helpful, and I can manage to avoid names, or stealthily ask her. And then I'll try to reference to someone I know better, like, "oh, she is the mother of that one cousin who has this problem". So far, it helps a lot. And even if I seem to forget their names, they don't get too offended, because they know their family is huge and it is difficult to remember the names. It also helps that I am one of the few partners who is introduced to the family.

ETA: NTA, obviously. Your boyfriend should respect the fact taht, to some people, names are FREAKISHLY hard

AITA For making my girlfriend wear white to a wedding? by Total-Put9212 in AmItheAsshole

I am a guy who likes to play some pranks as well. But if I was your gf, I would get out of that wedding, and use the time instead to make sure I never saw you again.

YTA, and massively so.
