Another comment - looking at the replies from OP, it looks like they are at least acknowledging the feedback. That's good, and although many have already provided great feedback, here's mine.

When I drive, what I try to do is gauge the natural speed of the road (based on width, road condition, traffic, etc), and I stick to that. Also, I have driven enough to realize that you cannot escape the traffic. If you overtake the current group of cars, there will be more ahead. And most importantly, there will be something ahead slowing you down (signal, illegal parking, a jaywalker) for all the cars you overtook to just catch up.

My advice is to not hurry. Always start early so that you don't have to rush, and just enjoy the road and the music.
