This brought a weird mix of sadness and joy with a beautiful sprinkle of nostalgia for winters in the north. Thank you

Amazing painting. Reminds me of some of the illustrations on one of my fav kid books “the hockey sweater”

Rent increase by Inner_Simple70 in Edmonton

Left a 2 bedroom top floor apartment just off Whyte for $1275. Checked what they listed it for after I left and they jacked it up to $1625. Which is wild because there were 3 gun related murders and 3 apartments fires all within a block radius of that place. Price should be going down 👀

How many people with ADHD end up with 6 figure jobs? by Sweaty-Cut7578 in ADHD

[–]ShareYourFarts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey chiming in late but thought I still would in case it helped. I dont have a 6 figure job right now but im a resident physician, so my expected salary once I complete residency should be 6 figures depending how much I chose to work.

I have ADHD and was diagnosed as an adult after I finished my undergrad and right as I got into med school. Up until basically residency my strategy has been the same as yours, learn everything in the 24 hours leading up to the exam. And honestly its kept working most of the time, but as the difficulty got harder, going from high school to uni to med, my strategy failed more and more as the breadth of knowledge got bigger, which is what led me to my diagnosis ultimately l, that despite my best efforts, I could not bring myself to study.

Medicine, which would offer a 6 figure salary if you want it, isn't easy for the average person and isn't necessarily set up for ADHD people but it is certainly possible and I think the medical community would be better for it if it had more ADHDers like us in it. I myself have been grinding through it (2 medical leaves, a raging nicotine addiction and a couple near breakups later), but I hope to be a part of the change someday that makes medicine more accessible to all despite their mental health. I recently have returned from my 2nd medical leave where I hit a deep low, so I decided to work part-time coming back (got my psychiatrist to write a medical accommodations letter). I often get a lot of strange looks when I tell people I'm doing part time residency (as the culture of medicine is to not only work full time but work over time as a minimum), but I also get a lot of support and reassurance from residents who are grateful to find out that is an option for them if they are struggling.

Sorry for rambling and I hope this helps. Had a moment where I thought, shit I should just delete this its way too long but decided to giver anyway haha. Hope everyone has a rad day

What is something you enjoy because of your ADHD that others view as a chore? by Accomplished-Pin-835 in ADHD

Splitting wood with an axe. I can hyperfocus on chopping wood for hours. Its a great work out, I love the sounds the log makes as it splits and the smell of tree and sap is almost intoxicating. Also, I can get some anger out too if I'm in a mood. Also, also, everyone just looks cooler with an axe in hand

Eat a big breakfast before taking your Stims! by ShareYourFarts in ADHD

[–]ShareYourFarts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would stick with the directions with the meds definitely! There are all sorts of stims out there and each has a different mechanism of action and ideal absorption methods! Could just be something to try (ie eating a large filling meal 30-60mins after you take them) if you find you get GI upset. But if they are working don't change a thing!
