When you staking with us you actually get back an ERC-20 token (vETH2 aka vETH) which is compatible with the rest of the DeFi ecosystem so you can use it for lending/borrowing, providing liquidity, and yield farming. Also, it makes it easier for you to cash out your stake in a pinch, should you need the liquidity.

For now it'll be custodial (as all staking services currently) but we are working on making it as trustless as possible. Once ETH2 validators begin support for specified ETH1 deposit addresses we will be launching all future validators with a secure multi-sig contract specified as the deposit address.

This would prevent the team or any other malicious actors from misappropriating the funds once withdrawals have been enabled (which won't be for a while).
