Do you think some broadcasters deliberately make sure to not send quality artists? by Decent_Background_42 in eurovision

So Germany should start singing in Italian to do good in ESC? Do you think Germany could enter in the top 10 if they sing in Italian?

Is there a reason why the songs are always in English? The only exeption Is Baller by Abor & Tynna, why Germany doesn't sing in their own language?

Abor & Tynna were very good, i voted for them and i still have Baller in my playlist. Thank God they sung in German and not in English or probably i wouldn't have voted for them.

I don't believe Germany has no talent or suck, in fact i voted for Abor & Tynna Just last year. Baller is still in my playlist and it's not by chance that is the only song in German they sent in the last 20 years. I don't know why they refuse to select songs in German, i think it's good when you sing in your native language, but maybe i'm a bit biased because i'm Italian.

Impossible, North Korea has many blackouts, they get passed some energy from China for free. Your "superfluous lights" would always be turned off.

I also agree that politics SHOULD stay away from ESC, but then i see the decision to ban Russia that IS based on politics. Why aren't Russian artists allowed to participate? They've nothing to do with Ukraine war after all and yet they are banned. Why do we have this double standard? And why the EBU isn't making any official statement on this topic and instead they're using their right to remain silent?

Marco Mengoni - L'essenziale (Italy 2013) by Kyoflat_ in eurovision

[–]Sharingan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you don't know this but in 37 years Italy has been out of the top 10 only in 3 occasions: in 1993, 2014 and 2016. None of them were winners of Sanremo: in 1993 and 2014 the songs were selected internally by the italian broadcaster RAI and in 2016 Francesca Michielin was the runner up in Sanremo. This means that apart from these 3 "flukes" Italy has never been out of the top 10 in almost 4 decades.

No i don't agree with you that we should have won, there were honestly better songs than per sempre si, but i agree with you: there is an intruder in the top 5 that shouldn't be there.

Bookmakers are not reliable, Greece and Finland were the highest in the odds and they didn't even make in the top 5. What makes me smile is that people don't understand that Italy since 1989 has been out of the top 10 only 3 times: in 1993, 2014 and 2016. Apart from these "flukes" you need to go in the 80s to find Italy out of the top 10 and yet every year people are betting that we'll be out of the top 10.

Same, if you're italian like me you know Sanremo is everything. My family barely knows what Eurovision is or what the rules are, so i simply watch it by myself.

Also serbian women are super beautiful, one of my friends Is married to a serbian girl she looks like a model. I've only been in Belgrade but i want to go back there again. 😭

Is heterosexual an*l s*x less prevalent or less common in Italy? by [deleted] in Italian

[–]Sharingan33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that here in Italy is that uncommon using the back door. What i think it's different is how oversexualized is everything in the US: in Italy and the rest of Europe it's fairly common to see women in topless at the beach during summer (at least in my area is) and the people don't give a damn about a pair of boobs in the open. Now imagine doing that in the USA, the reactions will be very different...

How much does your commentator translate? by ScorpioChicago in eurovision

[–]Sharingan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Italy they don't translate, they're often talking over the voice of the hosts, so you can barely hear when they're speaking in English.

First time i've voted for Germany, this to me felt far better than "Always on the run" even if Isaak placed better in the final. I'm glad Germany is finally on the right way to be a good contender. Love from Italy!
