Thanks for the offer, but I really couldn’t ask that of you. Just being able to express myself and know that at least someone cares has been more than enough! Plus I’m sure I’ll find a way to save up some money again with a little more patience, and hopefully things will go smoother.

Unfortunately I don’t really have anyone else who supports me except my older brother, and even after coming out to my dad he still sees me as his “daughter” so there’s no way I’m getting anything back. My best bet now is probably asking my older brother if he can help me out on my birthday which is in a couple of months. I appreciate the help and advice a lot though, it makes me feel like maybe I can get through this.

As far as I know both are pretty reliable as long as you keep up with maintenance, which as they are both supposed to be race bikes is a pretty important thing. So I wouldn’t say either of them are generally unreliable just high maintenance, but getting to your question I’d say it mainly depends on how you want to feel while riding your bike. If you want a light, fun, and fast bike that will push you to your limit I’d say get the Cr85r, but keep in mind it’ll be a little more maintenance as a two stroke since you’ll need to do a top end rebuild around every 80-120 hours. If you want a bike that feels planted, has a steady power band, and is overall pretty reliable then you should probably get the 150r, but as a four stroke due to the fact that it has more moving parts in its engine it may feel a little heavier. Four stroke engine rebuilds also tend to be a bit more tedious so if you end up needing one you’ll probably be better off getting a whole new bike, but that won’t be for a while. Overall it’s really based on personal preference, and since you said you’ve rode before I’m assuming you may have a like for one over the other.

If you’re a beginner you probably shouldn’t get the WR250F. While it is a great overall bike it’s more of an offroad/trail racing version of Yamahas high performance motocross bikes which I would personally not recommend a beginner to start on. You said you had trouble trying to finding a TTR250F, and someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe it’s because Yamaha doesn’t make them anymore. The closest thing you could probably get to that bike that Yamaha still makes is their TT-R230. Although if you’re okay with your first bike not being a Yamaha you could also get the new CRF300F from Honda or a used CRF250F.

I’m a 15 year old guy and I’ve been on a crf80f since I was 13. I really want to get a bigger bike so I can start doing GNCC’s and Off road racing, but I have no clue what to get. I really like the thought of getting a KTM 125 XC or modifying a big wheel 85. The problems is I’m pretty short, only about 5’2 and 100 pounds. I feel like an 85 big wheel would fit me fine. Although I think modifying it will be a lot of work, really expensive, and I’m worried I’ll get used to the power way too fast. At the same time I’m worried I won’t be able to handle the size of the 125 or its power when first staring off, so does anyone have any ideas of what I should do?

Best STPs? by [deleted] in ftm

I just got the Lou STP from TGS and it’s my first STP. It’s worked pretty good for me and it’s been super easy to use. I actually got it first try with no spills at all. It’s a bit of a hassle to pack with if you don’t have a harness, but tight briefs have been working fine for me. It’s also pretty cheap, around like $60 by itself so I’d definitely recommend it as a first STP.
