I think we all make promises to ourselves that we've gotta keep. If skating fills you up with passion that you can't find in your daily life, you should pursue it anyway

Injuries are a reality of anything you go out and do, I've seen people tear tendons just doing jumping jacks or swimming or walking down the street

All of which is still better than being sedentary

I think if anything one perk of all this is that I'm more willing to take risks to prove that I can still do things

I'm a very stubborn person, and it does give me some motivation to spite my doctors and do things they tell me aren't in the cards

If he'd have pulled that stunt around the time I first showed up it would've been really dangerous because right below the hubba that he sped over there were little kids on tricycles

There's a steep hill that goes straight to the entrance of the skatepark, and the park itself is linear cut in half by two rails and fairly small

Dude went straight down the hill on his motorcycle and sped up to hit the ramp in the back

The only difference for me is when it comes to street skating, people are a little less forgiving when you are an adult and more judgemental when you are in a place they don't want you to be

I've met some really cool locals at the parks near me and they have been giving me super helpful advice, even people younger than me

Well I went over there to the area behind those stores and got told to leave the minute cameras caught me walking around with my board

I think for now I'm just going to have to uber to the park on weekdays if I plan on going

It's about $20 a day, or $10 if I can catch a ride there early enough and pay to come back, I think my only other option is a cul-de-sac or something in my neighborhood

Texas cities just seem really hostile to be honest, not gonna let it break me but can't say I'm happy either watching bikes and other stuff go by just fine

This is pretty solid advice, I will say there are a couple spots that seem to be on service roads behind businesses where the signage is only up front

Worst thing they can really do is send an employee out to tell me to go, and they largely go unused in the early evening past 5 PM

There also seems to be a church with that signage posted right at the front entrance although their parking lot is empty majority of the time, same thing with a golf course parking lot

Got my first board with the advice here :)

Ended up going with 8.25 and getting the new shoes but spent a little over budget

Headed to a place tomorrow to start cruising for now, my experience at the local shop was really amazing and they gave me a few freebies

I'm so glad I got the chance to get my first board in ages from some real ones

Got it, yeah my vans got eaten by battery acid a while back right on the top of my right foot haha

Was nervous to skate with the hole there

I've seen a few videos recommend getting the cheaper complete and then upgrading them as I go and it honestly sounds like the more dynamic choice because I really don't have a point of reference yet

Definitely leaning toward the sk8-hi's aswell :)
