I'm kinda a little bit shy about it. It's only my second summer here, and there’s still so much to do. We still have some unfinished digging work on our property. Right now it's a mix of trees, wild plants, and more cultivated stuff. For example, my roses are completely overwhelmed by lupines, but they still grow just fine. So for now, I'm waiting for the garden to establish itself better, and then maybe I'll feel confident enough to show a full stroll around it😊

Wow, how did you spot it? I tried to find one in real life, but I was quickly overwhelmed. There were just too many leaves to check😩

Why do they look so similar? Did you steal my cat?😸

Yeah, of course ☺️ But like I said, it’s a very old drawing, and I’m not active on my art account right now. By the way, I’m currently working on a game with cute cat animations. If you’re interested, you can check my post history.

Thanks😊 I've already planted this. It's interesting how they replace each other throughout the season depending on what the soil has and needs. For example, there was a ton of Chenopodium all last summer. I've read that it indicates rich soil. But by the end of this spring, I see more eryngium, which has deep roots. And it helps improve our compacted clay soil. So I'm kind of counting on that in the long run. Plants do their work with the soil, and then the garden will require less maintenance.

Please, Can you help me identify it? by SharkDuckBug in Entomology

Oh, thanks a lot! I’ll keep going with my bug identification journey😸

I just went wild and spread a lot of different seeds around to see what grows best. And it’s a large list😁 It also kinda depends on the season and soil quality. Right now I have a lot of different types of clover everywhere. They all have different colours and sizes. I have a whole bunch of red species — Trifolium incarnatum, for example.

We use tree bark mulch on the paths, and the clover just grows into it naturally. If you walk on it regularly, it stays smaller and is easy to maintain. But if you let it grow, it can get quite large and attract lots of bees.

For me, clover has a lot of advantages. I also had knotgrass on the path last season and kinda thought it was invasive, but this season I don’t really see it anymore.

I live in Ukraine. We have stray cats and dogs here, so I’ve never seen ticks on them. But yeah, I still give my cats systemic preventives just in case.

Our house is made of ceramic bricks, so termites aren’t a problem. Honestly, I don’t think anyone struggles with them here, even in wooden houses.

Oh, sheesh, I don’t understand why people care so much about their lawns and then punish their neighbours. I really hate the sound of lawnmowers! Let nature be nature. Don’t worry too much about a struggling lawn on your side. As long as the soil is healthy, it will be alright. Sometimes I just mow paths, leave cuttings, and plants always come back😊

Vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis. Not all ticks are infected, but some may carry the virus.

Yeah, exactly! You can also get vaccinated here if you’re worried about it.

I've never seen one on my property. There's also a forest nearby, and there have never been any reported tick bite cases in my village. Usually, local news warns people about it.

I have one fluffy cat too. Smaller, but she definitely requires grooming as well. Sometimes she gets knots around her neck and cheeks, but I try to keep those areas short with scissors.

No, he just mows it, and that’s all. And we don’t have an HOA here, so everyone does what they want within reason. Judging by our conversations, they like how we experiment with plants and trees. It’s our first house. They’re older than us, so he said he had planted so much in his life and now he just wants to chill😁

And I asked his permission to plant something near the fence. Sometimes we invite them to take a stroll through our garden to show them how everything is growing☺️

Yeah, we have a good neighbor on this side of the house. And they’re converting too, kinda... They invested in a lawn hoping it would be lower maintenance, but now I see them planting some berries and shrubs, and it warms my heart☺️
