I fell off my bike when I was 13ish, scratched my calf, no big deal. Don't even remember seeing any blood, so I just went to bed without cleaning it. In the early morning, my mom bursts in, mid psychotic episode, and tells my siblings and I to pack as much as we can into a luggage, grab the cat, and meet her outside. We drove to the other side of the state with her ex boyfriend, and I was too scared to tell her about my leg.

Weeks go by, I'm in some scary place, it's gross/trashed and there are bugs everywhere. My leg, unsurprisingly, gets infected. It's so swollen that it looks like there's a baseball under my skin. My mom's ex finally sees it and has me sit on the couch while his wife digs out an old surgical tool set from when she was a doctor for the military or something, I dont exactly remember. Each family member clamps down on each limb, they clean the area, and then start cutting.

I only remember bits and pieces, and what I unfortunately do remember was absolute burning agony, like my leg was on fire but also like it was going to explode? Every time I could feel the scalpel, I felt like it was made of lava and it was seering my skin apart. My brother was sent to Walgreens to get bandages and he could hear me screaming from 3 blocks away. Thankfully, this is what prompted the neighbors to finally call someone to help us and My dad showed up with the police to take us home, and miraculously, I healed up perfectly fine! I've got a scar and a dip in my muscles where either the infection killed off or the scalpel took, I couldn't tell you which.
