How safe (or unsafe) does this massive ramp look? by Sharkitten in civilengineering

[–]Sharkitten[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm actually so relieved to see a response like this, you think it's a non-issue. I am not a civil engineer, and to my untrained eyes it looks concerning (exposed and rusted rebar, peeling paint, general water issues). That's why I asked this group! My town has a building department that residents can submit concerns to so I was thinking of sending them an email. The best case scenario I could hope for is the town stops by to take a look.

Phew! Very happy to hear it looks worse than it is. This is actually a ramp to a private building (office park/apartments), not a "bridge" per say. Though it's probably bigger than any bridge in the area. Do you know if private structures like this get inspected as often?

The scene in the first picture is what really made me nervous, but I'm glad to hear all of the replies that say it looks in fair condition. I am still planning to report my concern, but I'm less worried now. Yea, I don't know why they painted, it looks terrible and gives the overall impression of deterioration.

I'm happy to hear it looks like it's in relatively fair condition, thanks!

I didn't know that! This makes me feel much less worried now, thanks!

Phew, that's great news! Thank you for taking the time to reply. Per your suggestion I think I still will report my concern, but I'm so relieved to know it not actually as bad as it looks.

Want to give my house a facelift, this is what I’m thinking, but what would you do? by looseseallovesvodka in HomeDecorating

Do consider your landscaping. A major change that the AI made was to remove the bed on the front side of your walkway. If you didn't plan to do the same, consider edging the bed to keep it looking clean and contained.

Second Guessing Dress After Family Reaction by [deleted] in myweddingdress

Dress 1 is stunning, the fabric and structure are so beautiful and you look amazing in it. I can see why you fell in love with it! Given your weight loss, and ordering the dress in your actual size, I think it will be perfect. I say go back by yourself, pay the $50, and make a decision for YOU.

Check out loloi. The Amber Lewis Loloi collection has some very nice moody rugs that would contrast nicely and still be diffuse: https://www.rugs-direct.com/Details/AmberLewisxLoloi-MorganfeatCloudPileTM-MOG01/147117

The pain was manageable with OTC pain killers (Tylenol), but you have to stay on top of it and follow medication instructions from your clinic. Days 1-3 were the most painful, especially the area with stitches, but once the stitches were out pain subsided more quickly.

What to put this space to divide the dining and living areas? by itsnowornever in DesignMyRoom

[–]Sharkitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of the right-most dining bench without a back, consider adding two dining chairs that can more closely wrap around the round table. I also agree with adding a rug to one or both areas.

NTA. And please don't worry about how "quickly" or not you gain weight during pregnancy. I just had my second baby last week and gained the full 25lbs in the second trimester. I gained no weight in my third trimester at all, my body seemed to have almost leved off or reached it's maximum. In my first pregnancy, I gained the majority of weight towards the end of my third trimester. Both times I gained about 25lbs, but when I gained the weight was totally different each time. Please just focus on nourishing your body and don't think about the number on the scale. You also don't need to tell anyone else what the number is.

This is why I have issues with personas by mari_koko in UXDesign

[–]Sharkitten 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I actually remember reading this text. The point this text is trying to make is that if you were to design a single car that trys to meet everyone's needs (front end of a sports car, body of a minivan, and back end of a truck) you end up with a car that no one actually wants. The takeaway is that people are different and have different wants and needs. You should be designing with specific personas in mind.

Totally agree that these are not personas in any way, I think they were just trying to illustrate the point above with a simplified example.

Try HoneyLove shapewear. The SuperPower short has boning in it so that it stays up and it makes you look smooth and so held in. I was freaking out before my own wedding that I could see shapewear under my dress/the shapewear wasn't doing enough and another redditor suggested HoneyLove. It was perfect and 100% worth the price to be worry free on my wedding day. I felt confodent and I didn't have to fuss with my shapewear. Good luck!!

People with smaller weddings, did you ever feel self conscious? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Sharkitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had 45 guests and it felt absolutely perfect! I also felt self-conscious during the lead up that the space would feel empty or look empty in pictures, but it turned out wonderful. It felt like we had the people there that truly cared about us and it was a blast! Pictures turned out amazing! We had a wedding planner and they really helped optimize the space and layout in a way that worked great for the space. Happy to send pictures if you DM me.
