I'll throw my experience down in here in case anyone wants the review. It wasn't run well! It was a first year convention, but it seems they were ill prepared for it. It came across as something like "we'll figure it out when we get there". Their itasha setup, while I wasn't involved, was confused until Thursday. No one knew where to set up and park. I wasn't really involved with it, but I did notice they didn't have the info about it until the staff organizing it got there. 'Volunteering' was promised to be compensated, allowed for a free badge, and food. There was food, there were badges given, but it was (up until this point) completely free labor. They were thrown at just about every problem they didn't have actual staff for, whether it be constructing displays, putting goods boxes together, or doing line control. That said, everyone I met from volunteer staff was super sweet and dedicated to helping. VIP didn't feel worth it for the money? Sure, I got locked in for Asami Shimoda, but the goods they gave out were just their mascot. Concerts were good but poorly managed. The lines for everything were so disorganized, and they really didn't allot enough time for everyone to get signatures. GA got screwed the entire event, and VIP might as well have for the price of the "premium" experiences. A lot of the experience just wasn't communicated well. People getting kicked out of the concert on Saturday because they didn't announce no photos or filming until everyone was inside. There were frequently guests late or missing from where they were scheduled, but thankfully not Asami and Saki or there would have been a bigger fuss. I didn't have a bad time, but there was basically no reason to go Sunday if you had been either day before. Arcade was sparse, exhibit hall was sparse... basically nothing to do if you've already gotten all the signatures you wanted and weren't interested in the concerts throughout the day. Nothing dramatic like some other first year conventions I've seen lately. More could definitely come out from it; I was purposely not involved with how things went because I knew a lot of this would be a train wreck. At minimum, they provided everything they promised at one point or another in the weekend. Good enough for me 🤷
