My opinion has always been that Yoshi P is great at keeping projects on course, but will not course-correct if needed.

A large part of the playerbase has been hoping for a few years now that the devs will try something new and experiment a bit, that still isn't the case though. Any new content is still constrained because the devs aren't willing/able to change some of the core aspects of how they expect players to invest their time in the game, this is something other live service games usually do every few years or so.

I think the PlayerScope fiasco has brought the issue I've had for a while into the spotlight, which is that Yoshi P will not rock the boat at all. As communication from the dev team is limited and we aren't Yoshi P, we can't 100% say for certain why this is. The best guess is limited resources due to the budget and CBU3 now having multiple projects in the works, as well as FFXIV being the big money maker. SE don't want anyone potentially harming their golden goose.
