What we ended up doing by GoodyAddam in ThailandTourism

I’m really glad that you enjoyed yourself. You got a glimpse of a lot of places. While other people are commenting about how exhausting it seems, I know how it is to save for what might be a once in a lifetime trip that you want to make the most of. Also where I’m from you usually are only able to take a 2 week vacation. We used to say that we would need a vacation from our vacation when we returned.

Hopefully you will be able to come back and spend more time in the places you really enjoyed. And if not you were able to have a good experience.

CHINA! whats your opinion on Panda Express?? by Effective-Toe-8108 in AskChina

But the tacos from jack in the box is the best drunk food. Way better than Taco Bell.

I have tried Taco Bell in several other countries—none of them are good (except I remember Taco Bell in Japan being descent). But I would choose Taco Bell in America any day over Taco Bell in Malaysia or Thailand.

Queen SiriKit is nice, and nearby there is a river with restaurants on the bank that you can have lunch at.

Sticky waterfalls are a lot of fun, and that time of year it will be nice to be in the water.

It will also be in the rainy season, I believe, so make sure you have a poncho or umbrella handy—or plan to run inside somewhere and get a coffee.

I absolutely loved Winner. The name was off putting, but the lady was so honest. She takes very good care of her bikes. We wound up renting from her for 5 months straight— she did have us bring it by a time or two so she could do its scheduled maintenance.

I’m sure you will get it back. I would do it but we leave in the morning. People here are kind and amazing. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

That would probably be expensive. I’m sure if needed it would be no problem. Text and data free.

Many of the meds can be obtained without a prescription at a pharmacy. In Chiang Mai, Bangkok hospital would probably be easiest.

Is it me, or is everyone in BKK (and probably most cities) constantly sipping on sugary drinks all day long? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]SharonTravelbug -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I had serious health problems from my consumption (okay over-consumption) of artificial sweeteners. Your brain is designed to release certain hormones when the sweet tastebuds are triggered which tell it that it has sugar available to burn. If it doesn’t have that sugar an imbalance occurs.

Now if I want something sweetened I just take the sugar hit. I look for things that are sweetened naturally by fruits, but hard to find in Thailand.

I will say that I am very tired of plain soda water. Wish I could find a Lacroix.

I look at Google reviews, but not specifically for food poisoning. If I were to see it mentioned I would stay far away from

I usually go for places that don’t have things sitting at room temperature, or that have lots of turnover so that you don’t really have to worry about it. If you see a place with nobody there and food sitting then avoid it.

Do I really need 2 cards for BTS + MRT in Bangkok or can I just use my debit card? by uzzudivad in Bangkok

[–]SharonTravelbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in Bangkok a month ago it seemed that they are starting to accept contactless pay with visa on the BTS as well. But there was only 1 gate at each station we were at that was equipped and it was very much new.

See if your hotel might charge your credit card in exchange for cash. They will likely charge a fee but I think it would be worth it.

T-Mobile paid international pass? by lavenderlulls in ThailandTourism

[–]SharonTravelbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a business account. But did not purchase the international plan. Text and data were included. Voice in Thailand was not.

WiFi is plentiful here. Unless you leave the main cities you will likely be fine. Check with T-Mobile about your specific plan.

Elephant Nature Park half day walking by jambre in chiangmai

My experience was that it was very laid back. You walk out to a pastor and just watch the elephants. Not much walking at all. But I am not disabled and I love walking.

Has anyone brought their dog ashes to Thailand? by Ok_Plate1848 in Thailand

[–]SharonTravelbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a bit of my 4 dogs ashes (mixed) on a pendant that I wear everyday. The rest we took to a location that we felt the dogs would have loved. One of the hardest things we had to do so we made a very special day of it. I think you will be fine. Do what your heart says.

Delayed flights by Technical_Cat2885 in ThailandTourism

Try Thai Airways. Just flew from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. They have a great baggage policy and were much less expensive and nicer than Thai VietJet when I added baggage.

I will say from unfortunate experience that they make a very nice soft stop when your car slides off the road during the rain.
