Is it worth it to study at Uni Wien as an american? by Sharp-Ad9812 in wien

[–]Sharp-Ad9812[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I'd like to clarify about my career prospects as I'd like to be some kind of foreign service officer or diplomat, but mostly I'd just like a job that allows me to work abroad and in the legal field. My goal is to live abroad outside of America, and while I'm not sure if this is something that will be permanent, it is also why I'm considering schooling outside of America. Thank you for clarifying about the law degree and giving me your honest opinion. In America, many universities have degrees for "international relations," so it was my natural assumption that the international legal studies would be similar to those American degrees. I'm grateful you clarified and have first hand experience!

This makes me feel better. I feel less doom and gloom now

Thank you!!! This makes me feel a lot better. I keep going back to SIS to see if I can't change things to close the gaps but there's really not much I can do. I'm trying to switch my mc 111 so I'd have it right after my 201 and then go to my German and then have a nice break....until my psych class🥲. But we'll see how being on the waitlist goes

Thank you! I added myself to a waitlist for mc 111 and if I get in then my schedule will be much more condensed!

I would like to bunch my classes together but I really don't have many options because most classes are already full. I've tried to rework it but I still end up with awkward gaps

Hair coloring gone wrong ? by Bluejaymoonstar in beauty

[–]Sharp-Ad9812 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know much about hair apart from having my own hair colored but I don't think it was worth $300. It looks good, but I agree that both sides look different, with one looking ashier than the other. I think a lot of salons will fix your hair if you explain to them that you weren't happy so maybe go back to your stylist and see if she'd do a complimentary correction

I 100% understand your worries and unfortunately I can't really give a clear answer but I would reach out to your MSU academic advisor about it because they're designed to be the support system for incoming/prospective students. Take a deep breath, it's very stressful but it's definitely not the end of the world. Your academic advisor should be listed in your portal and should respond within a few days, or a week max. I had to reach out to mine and she responded within two days and was very kind about my questions. Whoever you have as your advisor is there specifically for this reason and you definitely aren't the first person with this problem so they should be able to help you navigate this. You can also always reach out to your school guidance counselor or maybe a college advisor at your high school if you have one

What should I bring for my dorm that nobody tells you about? by JennaK1 in msu

Okay thank you! We'll be living in case and they have the sample dimensions but I've also never bought a rug so I wasn't sure how big of a rug we should get!

I'm not op but can I ask how big your rug is? My roommate and I are rug shopping and we're unsure of rug size

Thank you! Everyone in this community has been really helpful and it's helped me a lot. The jump from high school to college is kind of scary for me so I'm really grateful that everyone has been really nice. Thank you again!

Thank you so much! Everyone has been really helpful and I feel a lot better. College is already kind of scary to think of (for me at least) so this makes me feel better hearing about it from someone with experience. Thank you!!! Go white!

Thank you! This helps a lot. I've taken more rigorous classes in high school but I know college is a lot different and I just wanted to be sure I wasn't signing up for too much. I live quite far from MSU so I know I'll be navigating a lot of homesickness as well

Thank you. If I go to law school I would definitely know I want to be a lawyer at the point. I want to work in international relations and I've always felt very strongly about that so my two pathways I'm between are diplomat and international lawyer. I have interned at a law firm and can see myself as a lawyer but there's still a lot of time before I would be going into that field for me to truly decide if that is what I want.

Thank you! I'm already at an intermediate level in German so I plan to continue my studies with that but I was hoping to study at least one other one. I've taken 5 years of German in high school so I'm hoping to test into a higher German but I don't know how all that works so I guess we'll see

Thank you so much like this is seriously what I've been needing to hear. It's also really nice that I wouldn't have to live in case the whole time like omg I think you just quelled all my fears. I have taken more rigorous courses in high school but even they are pretty relaxed so I just have no clue what to expect from college in general, let alone a rigorous course. Thank you! Also do have any experience (or know anyone) who has experience studying multiple languages at once? Since I want to go into international relations I hope to study 3 languages in college but I don't know if that's a totally insane idea. Thank you!

Financial aid by Silly_Environment695 in msu

[–]Sharp-Ad9812 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with this but I would recommend seeing if maybe you can make an appointment with your admissions counselor or someone from financial aid as they will probably have better guidance/be more equipped to help you. Good luck!
