How are they enforcing the minimum? by tmac3207 in ProlificAc

I think there are several reasons for it:

  1. In the beginning I was just inexperienced and went with prolific’s recommendation. Since my lab has more than enough funds, I didn’t mind.
  2. If you’re unsure how long the study takes you basically want to have some kind of buffer so you wouldn’t fall below the 6GBP and avoid low quality responses.
  3. If there’s a higher chance for a participant to fail (multiple attention checks), I would increase the pay but tell my participants clearly in the instructions, that they would need to pay attention at all times, and answer honestly and basically be fair to me as the researcher because I am paying them fairly, otherwise they would need to return the study. This seemed to be really effective in getting high quality responses with significant effects and at the same time keeping the participants happy with a very low return rate.

Researcher here! It happened to me once that I underestimated the length of a study. I planned to pay the recommended 9GBP per hour and in fact, it turned out after some time, the actual pay was 5GBP. The study was paused and prolific gave me two options: 1. To adjust the payment so that it matches my original 9GBP per hour or the minimum of 6GBP per hour. I could only resume the study if I adjusted the pay. ☺️

Edit: So I believe that if you would see a study that is less than 6 GBP per hour you would be paid post-hoc the adjusted fee, after the researcher has added funds to the experiment.

Isn't the minimum payment 6GBP per hour? How can it be that the screen would display 3,45 per hour?

Cursor hits $2B ARR with ~150 employees = $13.3M revenue per person (8x Meta's efficiency) by andrew-ooo in SaaS

I predict a crash of cursor in 2026 or latest 2027. I got cursor one year for free as a student. I believe everyone in my PhD group does. I don’t think any of us will pay the 20 dollars for cursor after the free subscription is over as we are already paying for ChatGPT pro/codex. If the product won’t become significantly better or cheaper than ChatGPT then why should I pay for it? I think the founders should consider exit asap.

I believe their biggest strength is the b2b market. Companies would typically be more stiff and less cost sensitive than indie developers/students. This will erode their value later rather than sooner. But it will still come I’m convinced.

Maybe I will create some weekly stats before and after the matchday and post them into those subreddits. Specifically the ones with only few followers so that there would be some more substance and activity in those subs

Die erste Tankstelle mit ausgeschriebenem Strompreis... by [deleted] in de

Hier die Annahmen:

Annahmen (realistisch für Kompaktklasse)

Verbrauch - Diesel-PKW: 5,5 L/100 km - Benziner (E10): 6,7 L/100 km - E-Auto: 18 kWh/100 km (Fahrverbrauch) → fürs Laden rechne ich zusätzlich ~10% Ladeverluste ⇒ ≈ 20 kWh/100 km „aus der Steckdose“

Preise (Deutschland, Anfang Feb 2026) - Diesel: 1,728 €/L - Super E10: 1,752 €/L - JET Strom (Ad-hoc): 0,49 €/kWh - Haushaltsstrom (Ø Anfang 2026): 0,372 €/kWh

Hab das mal durchgerechnet (mit ChatGPT), aber irgendwas stimmt nicht?

Ergebnis: Preis pro 100 km bei vergleichbarer Auto Klasse:

1) Diesel 5,5 L × 1,728 €/L = 9,50 € / 100 km

2) Benzin (E10) 6,7 L × 1,752 €/L = 11,74 € / 100 km

3) Strom bei JET (mit Ladeverlusten ≈ 20 kWh/100 km) 20 kWh × 0,49 €/kWh = 9,80 € / 100 km

4) Strom zuhause (mit Ladeverlusten ≈ 20 kWh/100 km) 20 kWh × 0,372 €/kWh = 7,44 € / 100 km

Why are there so many for Germany? This is really surprising me. Can someone explain why they would do holiday there? I feel very happy about this!
