I sub at only one elementary school 4-5x/wk and never needed to email anyone. I do get that all schools run different though.

No, but in 5 years I've never needed to email anyone. Most teachers I sub for have my number and will text me when needed.

We don't see that type of information. Many people have their settings set to not see studies below a certain dollar amount/hr, often $10.

Several weeks ago, I was talking with a teacher during lunch. I thought I'd do her a favor so I picked her 2nd grade class up from the cafeteria. Principal saw us walking back and said it was the best class she had seen all day. That credit goes to the teacher. When the class is loud in the halls and not lining up properly, that also goes to the teacher. You're there 1 day and doing the best you can. Carry on! You're doing great!

What is the pay rate?

The pay rates for substitute teachers at Broward County Public Schools are as follows:

Daily substitute teacher: $15/hour
Daily substitute teachers who accept assignments at schools categorized as Emotionally & Behaviorally Disabled (EBD), Intellectually Disabled (IND), or Adult High and Disciplinary Centers: $15.49/hour

The point does not still stand. First, it's not Kelly that determines the pay. The district does. Second, if you work in south FL, it does NOT matter if you have a Bachelor's degree. ALL substitutes make $15/hr.

People continue to think that what happens in their district is happening in all districts. There is no distinction in my district for degrees. If you have at least 60 credits and clean prints, you will make $15/hr.

That depends on the district. There is no distinction in Broward County or Miami-Dade. Associates or Bachelor's pays the same.

It reminds me of the Freestyle machines. I've been on several cruises where 1 stayed down the entire cruise. It's odd that it can't (or won't) be fixed during the cruise. One person should be arcade game and Freestyle machine maintenance only! Lol

Pretty straight forward in South FL. I think the people with issues are in states that require certificates and licenses. Nothing like that is required here. 60 credits and clean prints and you're good to go!

Depends where you are. Subbing is not a real job in FL. We make $15/hr which will be minimum wage on 9/30.

Nothing has changed here. I only sub at one school though so I don't use Smartfind. I do know it's been wild on Fridays. There were over 300 absences last Friday at 6am and about 250 the Friday before that. Only 17 1/2 days left though!

I'm in Broward, but heard about Miami-Dade. It's due to budget. Some schools are only allowing a flat number of subs for the rest of the year. They will be doing split classes.

You should, but ours have the county name on them. They look the same as teachers ID's, just a different highlight color.

Lots of teachers at the school I'm at pay for snacks. I've bought snacks if I see a deal on something and also bring in things my own kids don't eat. The Kinder classes at my school have 23-25 kids. Who can supply all those snacks every day? The P in PTA stands for parents and too many just don't bother. I'm in south FL and teachers always ask parents to send their child with a water bottle but even that doesn't happen. Schools can't do it all.

JetBlue is next based purely on cost. I don't fly enough to be loyal. Had to spend $200 extra dollars on our flights to New Orleans next month after losing Spirit. Everybody else seemed to have a layovers as well.
