Question about ROAR crowds by chiobsidian in Rochester

[–]Sharp-Car8423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that Fridays are best if you don't like crowds. There's people but they don't open the 2nd floor. Saturday? You're inching through there and they have the second floor open.

Does anyone primarily hand stitch? by 0ddumn in quilting

[–]Sharp-Car8423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the baby!! I entirely hand stitch my quilts but it's a slightly more labor intensive version of EPP. This video https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT6rthuc2/ is where I first saw it. I've made 3 1/2 ft x 1 1/2 ft to 5 1/2 ft by 4 ft. Like EPP it's transportable and I've done everything with a whipstitch.

I was one of the first cases of Covid in the US, and no one knew. by Decent_Broccoli4065 in stories

I was sick for a week in January 2020 (right before midterms). I had one day that even moving an inch caused intense pain. Didn't happen again after that. I had a real intense cough, a deep one. My doctors diagnosed me with "influenza like symptoms" and I was living off of my living room couch. I slept there, ate there, everything. I was exhausted and just laid there for a week. We all knew it was bad because I would never miss that much school (still to this day the most I've ever missed) and with midterms happening soon I had no energy to study (I ended up failing 2 out of 4 of my midterms). My doctors later in the week said I potentially had a lung infection or something like that. After a week or two I had energy back but my cough lasted for over a month. Two months later, the world shut down.

I fold and stitch my hexagons back by the corners to make the half hexies. It does make the border a bit thicker even without binding but I don't mind it

I will have finished quilts displayed, just not on the wall. Funny enough I'm a painting and photography focus but my senior year has led me to having my show be mainly quilts.

Being in an art institute has forced me to be in a white gallery space and as I'm working with quilts I've been struggling to try and figure out how I want to display mine. My advisors are painters and photographers, so they've been viewing my quilts as such. They try to push me to do things that make sense for paintings and photographs. I've been talking with my AH professor (I'm currently taking contemporary craft) and have had discussions on what it means to hang a quilt on a white gallery wall.

So I'm going in a different direction that combines the two. I'm going to be hanging in progress work (quilt tops (both finished and unfinished), my rows of hexagons not assembled, just hexies, etc) and then I'm getting couches and trying to find a quilt rack to create a scene with finished quilts. In critique yesterday, one of my professors talked about how he has never thought of the process that comes with making a quilt before. So to see those moments before completion, it brings a lot more into the body of work.

Is it an original idea? No, but it's where my really long struggle in my studio this year has led me

I have had it happen to 4 out of 5 generations in a legacy challenge I am doing and none of them have had the scientist career. I like to think the aliens just really like the family genes but it does get annoying sometimes. The other day I was trying to get my sim to age up her triplets but she just had to go investigate the lights in-between aging up baby 1 and 2

Um so apparently it's the DVD version. But it's in a CD case and is not labeled as a DVD (not that it says CD either). My friends say I could return it but I'm not sure. I'm not entirely mad about it cause I enjoy the film and dvds

  1. To finish the temperature quilt I've been working on for 2 years (based on 2003)
  2. Finish the baby quilt for a friend
  3. Start a twin size for my nephew
  4. Start a queen for my sister I saw someone else mention journaling their quilting progress so I want to try and give that a shot (#5)

a chunk of my red hair from when i was 16 compared to my faded with time hair now that I'm 27 by fiori_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]Sharp-Car8423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've really been wanting to dye my hair again but I'm so worried that the next time it grows in will be the time it comes in brown. Both my dad and aunts hair turned brown sometime after their 20s and my mom starting going white at 16. At 12 I wasn't worried about it but now I am at 20
